    Digit
A small delivery robot created by Luna. He is tasked with delivering treats to her crush Alex.
  • Artificial Family Member: Luna, his creator, treats him like her son.
  • Disney Death: In the Perfect Blue ending, he makes a Heroic Sacrifice by throwing himself out the airlock with Melvin and his robot mooks, and the cast spend the ending mourning him. But if he got all the bits of the heart sensor beforehand, then it turns on and Luna finds him in a bush on the new planet, after which Sparks is able to repair him.
  • Heroic Mime: Justified as he is a robot who was not made with speech capabilities like the others, so he mainly communicates through facial expressions.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: In the Perfect Blue ending, he presses the airlock button so he is Thrown Out the Airlock along with Big Bad Melvin and his Mecha-Mooks just before they can kill the remaining crew members. Though he lands on the new planet and gets repaired by Sparks just fine.
  • Ridiculously Human Robots: Among all the robots in the ship, he is the only one who seems to have a free will and personality, being capable of (non-verbal) communication, free movement, and even defying orders. The others are treated like just robots, and so destroying them is not played for pathos; but his Heroic Sacrifice very much is. Possibly justified as Digit was made by Luna as an Artificial Family Member, while the others were made by Melvin who only sees robots as tools.
  • Save the Villain: He can potentially save Luna, the titular Yandere who tried to corrupt him into becoming a Killer Robot, from Melvin and his bots by destroying them.
  • Tin-Can Robot: Like the other robots, he is made of a head box, body box, and a wheel to get around.
  • Undying Loyalty: Digit can demonstrate this towards Luna at several points.
    • In the Perfect Blue or Neutral ending, he can save Luna from Melvin despite everything she's done to him. Luna is incredibly touched when he does, snapping her out of her Yandere mindset for good.
    • When Luna insists on staying on the ship in the Perfect Blue ending, Digit can talk the rest of the main crew into convincing her otherwise, so she'll go to the new planet with them.

    Luna
A scientist on the ship and the titular Space Yandere. She is in love with Alex, a fellow crew member, and hopes to earn his love, so she creates Digit to have him deliver treats for Alex. But when she catches him kissing Eden, she snaps and develops a plot to have Alex all to herself.
  • Abusive Parents: Luna is like a mother to Digit and gets incredibly upset when she realizes he hasn't been corrupted like the other robots. This results in her chasing him across the ship to reprogram him herself and threatening to do "something very, very bad" if he doesn't obey her. Luckily, she goes back to normal if Digit saves her from Melvin's robots.
  • Antagonist Title: Luna is the titular Space Yandere, going to drastic means to rid herself of competition and keep Alex all to herself.
  • Big Bad: She is the titular Space Yandere who, after seeing her crush Alex kissing Eden, masterminds a plot to kill Eden and everyone else on the ship to get Alex to herself, until Melvin, the engineer who she manipulated, turns on her for using him and tries to kill her and everyone else for not returning his love.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: The trailers and a large part of the story itself makes it seem like Luna is going to be the Big Bad throughout. While she is indeed the main antagonist for about 60% of the game, she is ultimately usurped by Melvin, after he realizes she deceived him.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Luna really should have known better than to try and trick a petty Control Freak like Melvin into helping her. He turns on her the minute he realizes Luna lied to him.
  • Easily Forgiven: In the Perfect Blue ending, which is also the True Ending, both Eden and Sparks are surprisingly quick to forgive Luna for trying to get them all killed out of jealousy. Downplayed with Alex, who is much less lenient with her and even tells Digit to leave her to die prior to their escape.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Her glasses initially make her come off as a Bespectacled Cutie, but when she goes into Yandere mode and tries to kill most of the crew on the ship, they accentuate her crazy eyes.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Should Digit save her from Melvin's Mecha-Mooks, she goes from Mad Scientist and Yandere who tried to kill most of the crew to actively helping Digit stop Melvin and save the crew from him.
  • Idiot Hair: Luna's hair is styled into an ahoge.
  • Madness Makeover: Luna looks noticeably more disheveled and sleep-deprived the day after she sees Alex and Eden kiss. And she obviously isn't all there anymore mentally.
  • Mad Scientist: A Yandere who masterminds a plot to hijack a bunch of robots and have them kill everyone so she and her crush can be the last ones remaining.
  • Yandere: Luna snaps after seeing Alex and Eden kiss. She talks Melvin into reprogramming the robots on the ship and tries to kill Eden with a poisoned cake. She goes back to normal in the True Ending.

    Alex
A scientist on the ship who is the object of Luna's affection. Unfortunately for her, he is already in a relationship with Eden.

    Eden
A psychiatrist whose job is to check on the crew members of the ship to ensure they are doing okay. She has hooked up with Alex, one of the crew members, making her the target of Luna's hatred.
  • Florence Nightingale Effect: She is a psychiatrist brought on to do regular mental checkups for the crew members and make sure they are doing okay. She winds up in a relationship with Alex, a crew member and thus one of her patients.
  • Official Couple: With Alex, unfortunately for Luna.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: Eden has light pink hair and is a kind and caring woman. So caring in fact that she completely forgives Luna in the Perfect Blue ending for trying to murder her.

    Sparks
A mechanic who spends his days fixing the ship robots and machinery. He befriends Digit and harbors his own crush on the robot's creator, Luna.
  • Official Couple: With Luna in the Perfect Blue ending.
  • Second Love: Ends up as one for Luna after she lets go of her obsession with Alex.
  • Spanner in the Works: On the third day, he notices a strange chip that Digit has on his body and asks to remove and inspect it. Should Digit accept, it derails Luna and Melvin’s Evil Plan as that chip was supposed to corrupt Digit into becoming a Killer Robot, allowing him to instead help the crew escape.

    Melvin
The ship's chief engineer and creator of the robots who manage the ship. An arrogant, unpleasant creep, he lusts after Luna, but also detests her for modifying his robot design to create Digit. Nevertheless, he eagerly agrees to help her in her plot to kill Eden and the others when she seduces him.
  • Antagonist Title: Melvin is the other Space Yandere, pretty much taking over as the Big Bad out of anger that Luna only pretended to like him so she could make a move on Alex.
  • Big Bad: Once he turns on Luna for using him and tries to kill her and everyone else for not returning his love.
  • Control Freak: Melvin is in charge of the robots on the ship and gets really pissy if someone tampers with his creations in any way. When Luna modifies one of the bots into Digit, he barges into her cabin to make painful tests on Digit so he can be sure he still has control over him. He also frequently tells the crew and Digit not to forget who's in control (him).
  • Didn't Think This Through: In a similar vein to Luna, Melvin probably shouldn't have positioned himself right in front of a chute while trying to kill the main crew.
  • Foil: Melvin to Luna. Both of them have an unhealthy obsession with another member of the main crew and perform extreme actions to have their crush all to themselves. However, while Luna eventually snaps out of this mindset and realizes just how messed up what she's done was, Melvin keeps being an obsessive asshole all throughout the story, showing zero remorse for almost killing his friends and actively trying to murder them after Luna rejects him.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: He wears strange spiral glasses that make him look like a stereotypical Otaku, and is an even bigger Yandere than Luna who helps her in her murderous plans, then tries to kill her too.
  • Hate Sink: Melvin is a perverted creep and an unpleasant Control Freak. And that's before he loses it.
  • If I Can't Have You…: Melvin sics his robots on Luna after Luna confesses her love to Alex.
  • Just a Machine: He treats his robots as tools for him to use, and is the only character who treats Digit as a machine to be controlled when everyone else treats Digit like a fellow crew member.
  • Kick the Dog: On Digit's first day, Melvin busts into Luna's cabin, berates her for modifying one of his bots, then puts Digit through a painful test to see if he still functions, despite Luna's protests.
  • Non-Action Big Bad: While Luna chases Digit down herself, Melvin relies on his robot mooks to do the work for him. The Final Boss is the mainframe while he stands on the sidelines.
  • Robot Master: He built the robots in the ship and, under orders from Luna, hijacks them to turn them into Killer Robots. He also turns them against Luna when she reveals she was using him.
  • The Starscream: When he realizes Luna only seduced him to manipulate him and had her eyes on Alex the whole time, he turns his robots on her and tries to kill her.
  • Thrown Out the Airlock: His fate in the Perfect Blue ending — Digit sacrifices himself by pressing the lock button and throwing Melvin and his bots into space. Digit survives, being a robot, but Melvin likely died instantly.
  • Yandere: Melvin has a very creepy obsession with Luna even prior to his official Face–Heel Turn. This comes to its logical conclusion when he realizes she only used him and his robots to get to Alex and he becomes a homicidal maniac dead-set on killing the rest of the main crew as revenge for being lied to and manipulated.

    The Robots
The other robots on the ship, created by Melvin.
  • Auto Doc: The nurse robots, who do things like check on Digit to see if his systems are free from corruption.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: The robots turn from helpful assistants to murderous predators after being reprogrammed.
  • Cyber Cyclops: The normal guard bots have one eye.
  • Killer Robot: Melvin reprograms them into killing machines and lets them loose on the human crew.
  • Mecha-Mooks: They were built by Melvin, who hijacks them and turns them into mindless killing machines.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: The robots all gain piercing red eyes after the take-over.
