The characters of South Park: Phone Destroyer are divided up into six different themes, each with their own unique playstyles and units.

  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Cards can be easily identified as to which theme they belong to by the color of their borders:
    • Adventure cards are Blue (Stan of Many Moons).
    • Sci-Fi cards are Orange (Cyborg Kenny).
    • Mystical cards are Green (The Master Ninjew).
    • Fantasy cards are Red (Grand Wizard Cartman).
    • Superheroes cards are Pink (Call Girl).
    • Neutral cards are Grey.
  • Cowboys and Indians: Besides the Adventure theme, the rest of the themes, sans Fantasy and Neutral, also feature a variation of this:
    • Aliens and Cyborgs (Sci-Fi)
    • Modern Religion and Mythology (Mystical)
    • Superheroes and Supervillains (Superheroes)

    Adventure 

Adventure

The Adventure theme is the first theme players start out with, with its playstyle focusing on high aggression and dealing direct damage to enemies through character abilities. Its members largely consist of Cowboys, Indians, and Pirates. In PvE mode, this theme's leader is Stan of Many Moons.

  • Area of Effect:
    • Stan of Many Moons' charged ability has him cast a fiery blast that deals huge damage to all enemy units. Recent updates have reworked his ability so that it deals full damage to enemies within a limited range while those outside only get dealt half the damage.
    • Sheriff Cartman's charged ability has him damage all enemies around him in a small area.
    • Pirate Ship Timmy's charged ability has him target the nearest enemy unit and deal large damage with a cannonball that damages enemies around them.
    • Frontier Bradley gives all allied Fighters this ability alongside a small attack boost for as long as he is on the field.
  • Cowboys and Indians: About two thirds of the theme consists of cowboys and indians. The other part consists of pirates (on the logic that indians and pirates existed around the same time period) and other miscellaneous units.
  • Draw Aggro: Swashbuckler Red attracts all enemies in a large range towards her for ten seconds.
  • Flying Mook: Thunderbird.
  • Freeze Ray: Big Mesquite Murph's attacks stun enemy kid units for a short amount of time.
  • Hook Hand: Hookhand Clyde has two hook hands.
  • One-Hit Kill: Initially, Inuit Kenny instantly killed whoever killed him. Later updates nerfed the card so that instead of instantly killing the target, he inflicts a high amount of damage to them, with the chances of instantly killing them becoming higher each time the card is leveled up.
  • Pirate Girl: Captain Wendy, Buccaneer Bebe, and Swashbuckler Red.
  • Snake Oil Salesman: Frontier Bradley.
    Frontier Bradley: I promise this will cure what ails you!
  • Status Buff:
    • Gunslinger Kyle's Charged ability has him increase the attack of all friendly units on the field for a limited time.
    • Buccaneer Bebe increases her attack power permanently for every enemy she kills.
    • As long as he is on the field, Frontier Bradley increases the attack of all friendly Fighter units while giving them the ability to deal Area of Effect damage equal to half their current attack (it used to be the full total of their current attack before his ability was nerfed in a future update).
    • Full Moon Sparky's Aura ability increases the attack of every allied unit within range.
  • Taking You with Me: Inuit Kenny's Deathwish ability has him deal massive amounts of damage to the enemy that killed him, having a high chance of instantly killing them on higher levels. This effect does not activate if Inuit Kenny is transformed or if the enemy unit that killed him is granted invincibility.

    Sci-Fi 

Sci-Fi

The Sci-Fi theme focuses on controlling the battlefield through the use of status conditions like speeding up friendly units, while poisoning, freezing and/or mind controlling enemy units. Its members mainly consist of aliens, robots, and cyborgs. In PvE mode, this theme's leader is Cyborg Kenny.

  • Anti-Magic: Enforcer Jimmy's Aura ability prevents all nearby enemy units from charging their abilities.
  • Attack Drone: The Alien Drone, a standard drone repurposed as a weapon.
  • Evil Redhead: Alien Queen Red, who is a Shout-Out to the Alien Queen from Aliens: Genocide, wants to take over the planet, and her summon quote implies a very unpleasant fate for her victims:
    Alien Queen Red: You seem fertile for impregnation.
  • Flying Mook: Bounty Hunter Kyle and Alien Drone.
  • Freeze Ray:
    • Freeze Ray freezes all enemy units in a select range for a limited time.
    • Program Stan's Charged ability has him freeze and damage all enemy units on the field for a short time.
    • Ice Sniper Wendy's Charged ability has her freeze the three closest enemy units for a limited time.
    • A.W.E.S.O.M.-O 4000's Charged ability has him freeze all enemy units around him within a short range for a limited time.
    • Powerfist Dougie freezes the enemy New Kid and all enemy units around them on his first strike for a limited time.
    • Sizzler Stuart's Warcry ability freezes all enemy units in front of him for a limited time.
    • Space Pilot Bradley gives all allied Assassins the ability to freeze nearby enemy units upon spawning.
    • Dr. Mephesto's Charged ability has him push back, freeze, and damage the ground enemy unit closest to his controller, with the attack being repeated eight times.
  • Improvised Jet Pack: The jet pack Bounty Hunter Kyle uses to fly is made from a leaf blower.
  • Mind Manipulation:
    • Mind Control allows you to take control of any unit on your side of the field within a select range for a limited time.
    • Cyborg Kenny's Deathwish ability has him take control of the enemy unit that killed him for ten seconds and heals a fraction of their HP.
    • Mecha Timmy's Charged ability has him take control of the nearest enemy unit for three seconds.
  • Poisonous Person:
    • Poison toxifies all enemy units in a select range for a limited time.
    • Alien Clyde's Warcry ability poisons a random enemy unit upon spawning.
    • Alien Queen Red's Warcry ability poisons every enemy unit upon spawning, excluding the enemy New Kid.
    • Marine Craig's Warcry ability poisons the enemy New Kid for a limited time and poisons nearby enemies for twice as long.
  • Self-Duplication: Gizmo Ike's Charged ability allows him to create one copy of himself with only a small fraction of the original's max health as the copy's max health, and the copy can even create another copy with reduced health, and so on.
  • Status Buff: Bounty Hunter Kyle increases the attack of all friendly units on the field excluding himself with every hit he makes on an enemy unity. He also heals a fraction of all friendly units' HP when he kills an enemy unit.
  • Super-Speed:
    • Hyperdrive speeds up all friendly units for a limited time.
    • Astronaut Butters' Deathwish ability has him speed up the nearest ally or the New Kid for a limited time.
    • Warboy Tweek's Warcry ability has him speed up all friendly units, including himself, for a limited time.
    • Robo Bebe's speed increases with every enemy unit she kills.
    • Sizzler Stuart's speed increases every time he lands a hit on an enemy unit.
    • Space Pilot Bradley originally gave all allied Assassins a speed boost upon spawning. This was eventually removed in later updates.
    • Commander Hat (AKA Spock Garrison) has a Warcry ability that gives all allies orders to kill the closest highest cost ground enemy unit with increased speed and attack until it dies.

    Mystical 

Mystical

The Mystical theme has a largely defensive playstyle, revolving around healing and reviving units, obtaining more energy, and locking down the effects of enemies or inhibiting their movement. Its members largely consist of figures from both religion and classical mythology. In PvE mode, this theme's leader is The Master Ninjew.

  • Anti-Magic:
    • Power Bind stops the charge of all enemy units in a certain range for a limited time.
    • Hercules Clyde stops the charge of the enemy unit he targets in addition to dealing damage.
    • Youth Pastor Craig stops the enemy New Kid from casting spells for 45 seconds.
    • Prophet Dougie stops the energy regeneration of the enemy New Kid if he manages to land a hit.
  • Dark Is Evil: Dark Angel Red and Imp Tweek refer to themselves as servants of darkness.
  • Draw Aggro:
    • Zen Cartman is able to lure all enemies in range towards him when his ability is activated.
    • S-WOW Tittybang taunts all nearby enemy units upon reaching her target.
  • Evil Counterpart: Dark Angel Red to Angel Wendy. Both are female angels who fight from a distance, have the ability to restore other units' health, and whose card art depicts them flying over a cloudy background. However, while Angel Wendy is a benevolent angel with a white and gold colour scheme who heals units the standard way, Dark Angel Red is a Fallen Angel with a red and black color scheme who "heals" units by killing them and then bringing them back to life.
    Angel Wendy: [when summoned] By my grace.
    Dark Angel Red: [when idle] Disgrace is the only grace I know!
  • Evil Redhead: Dark Angel Red is a Fallen Angel with a red and black color scheme and voice lines like "Hail Satan!" and "Darkness will consume you!".
  • Fallen Angel: Dark Angel Red seems to be this given her dark color scheme, mentioning praising Satan in her quotes, and her Necromancer abilities.
  • Flying Mook: Cupid Cartman, Imp Tweek, and Archangel Bradley.
  • Forced Transformation: When Medusa Bebe kills an enemy, that enemy will be transformed into an ally snake that poisons enemies whenever it attacks.
  • Former Teen Rebel: Sheila's Mystical persona, S-WOW Tittybang, is basically her younger Jersey self, which was first revealed in the episode, "It's a Jersey Thing".
  • Friend to All Living Things: Friar Jimmy's card art has him surrounded by affectionate animals, and his death quote has him asking people to "care for [his] creatures".
  • Gold and White Are Divine: Angel Wendy's card art depicts her dressed in a white robe with a gold collar and halo, wielding a ball of golden light in one hand.
  • Gradual Regeneration:
    • The Regeneration spell grants this to all the player's units for a limited amount of time.
    • Friar Jimmy emits an aura that constantly regenerates his own health along with any allies close to him. Priest Maxi has the same ability, with slightly stronger effects.
  • Life Drain: Witch Doctor Tolkien has the charged ability to drain HP from nearby enemies.
  • Light Is Good:
    • Angel Wendy's color scheme features light blue and white colors, her movements are graceful and she heals allies in battle, contrasting with Dark Angel Red's dark color scheme.
    • Archangel Bradley wears what appears to be a golden armor, and he calls himself God's warrior.
  • Medusa: Bebe's mystical persona is none other than Medusa.
  • Necromancer:
  • One-Hit Kill: Just like Inuit Kenny above, Unholy Combustion initially killed any enemy that was targeted by it, before it was nerfed to simply deal high damage with a percentage chance for this effect.
  • Our Imps Are Different: Imp Tweek's card art depicts him as looking like a human with red bat wings and horns, a forked tail, goat legs, and a pitchfork, and his quotes have him talking about how "Darkness will prevail!" and such.
  • Overcrank:
    • Poseidon Stan's Charged ability slows down all enemy units on the field for a limited time.
    • While remaining on the field, Archangel Bradley boosts the HP of all friendly tanks and causes enemy units near them in a select radius to be slowed down.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Dark Angel Red's card has a black and red color scheme, and she's a (probably) Fallen Angel who praises darkness and Satan and kills her own allies.
  • Regenerating Health:
    • Regeneration gradually restores all allies' health for a limited time.
    • Friar Jimmy and Priest Maxi have an aura that can gradually regenerate the health of all nearby allies, with Priest Maxi's aura having a stronger effect.
  • Something about a Rose: Dark Angel Red uses red roses as her weapon of choice for extra gothic appeal, and also mentions them in some of her quotes.
    Dark Angel Red: Every rose has its thorns.
  • Status Buff:
    • The Master Ninjew's Warcry ability permanently increases the attack of all friendly units on the field.
    • Archangel Bradley boosts the HP of all friendly tanks while he's on the field.
  • Stone Wall: Zen Cartman has no attack whatsoever but high HP and an ability that forces nearby enemies to attack him.
  • Witch Doctor: Witch Doctor Tolkien, with the ability to drain life from his enemies.

    Fantasy 

Fantasy

The Fantasy theme focuses on buffing the stats of friendly units and providing protection while nerfing stats of enemies, transforming enemies into weaker units, and generating extra units to fight on the battlefield. Its members largely consist of wizards, knights, elves, and other figures from medieval fantasy. In PvE mode, this theme's leader is Grand Wizard Cartman.

  • Area of Effect: Grand Wizard Cartman's charged ability has him damage all enemies around him while also freezing and knocking them away.
  • The Dragonslayer: Dragonslayer Red, whose card art depicts her having just decapitated a dragon with a huge battle axe. And if one of her quotes is any indication, she eats them too.
  • Forced Transformation:
    • Transmogrify transforms the targeted enemy unit into a rat.
    • Cock Magic transforms both enemy and allied units into cocks. However, how many units it affects increases with each level up.
    • Sorceress Liane's Deathwish ability has her transform all enemy and ally units within a certain range into cocks. However, how many units it affects increases with each level up.
  • Freeze Ray: Grand Wizard Cartman's ability has him freeze and knock back any enemies around him.
  • Friend to All Living Things: Nymph Nichole is portrayed as this, with her character ability giving her a boost to her health and attack power for every animal ally that's presently on the battlefield, along with every animal ally that spawns while she's on the field herself.
  • Gratuitous French: Lè Bard Jimmy. Extra gratuitous in that the word "bard" isn't even French.
  • Hot Witch: Sorceress Liane plays off Liane's sexual persona by dressing her up as a witch in a leotard and high lacy stockings, with a phallus at the end of her broomstick. To top it off, her Deathwish transforms everyone around her into a cock.
  • Maximum HP Reduction:
    • Lè Bard Jimmy's Warcry ability damages and reduces the maximum health of all enemy units upon spawning.
    • Dragonslayer Red's Warcry ability reduces the current health and max health of all enemy units in front of her by half, then halves their attack for 10 seconds upon spawning.
  • Nigh-Invulnerability:
    • Paladin Butters' Deathwish ability has him bestow invincibility to the nearest ally or the New Kid for a limited time.
    • Kyle of the Drow Elves' Charged ability gives all allied units, excluding himself, invincibility for a limited time.
    • Shieldmaiden Wendy's Charged ability gives herself invincibility for a limited time.
  • Overcrank: Witch Garrison's Charged ability slows down all enemy units in front of him for a limited time.
  • Royal Rapier: Elven King Bradley wields a rapier.
  • Status Buff:
    • Canadian Knight Ike's Charged ability increases his max HP and fully heals himself.
    • Dwarf Engineer Dougie's attack permanently increases every time he hits the enemy New Kid.
    • Robin Tweek's Warcry ability increases the max HP of a random ally. His ability was later reworked so that he instead targets the closest allied unit in front of him.
    • Blood Elf Bebe heals herself and also increases her maximum health every time she kills an enemy.
    • As long as he is on the field, Elven King Bradley increases the attack of all friendly ranged units on the field and doubles their attack range.
    • Nymph Nichole's attack and max HP permanently increase every time a friendly animal unit is played.
  • William Telling: A variation. Robin Tweek sticks an apple on one of his arrows and fires it at an ally in order to increase their maximum health.

    Superheroes 

Superheroes

Introduced in Summer 2019, the Superheroes theme largely focuses on having units assist each other in combat with their abilities and the placement of traps. Its members consist of both superheroes, supervillains, and the newly added Trap cards like Chompers, Lava Pits, and Member Berries. In PvE mode, this theme's leader is Call Girl.

  • Area of Effect: Super Craig can punch any enemies in front of him as opposed to just one.
  • Blown Across the Room: Alternate Human Kite's Charged ability has him create a burst of wind that pushes back both enemies and himself.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: Changeling Red is a supervillainess with voice lines such as "Death to do-gooders!" and "Evil will prevail!".
  • Draw Aggro: Mary Jane Randy's potted plants attract enemies within range towards them for a limited time every few seconds.
  • Evil Redhead: Changeling Red from the Superheroes theme is a shapeshifting supervillainess whose card art depicts her pulling a Kill and Replace and who mocks the forces of good in a very card-carrying way.
  • Flying Mook: Human Kite, Mosquito Swarm, and Mint-Berry Crunch.
  • Food-Based Superpowers: Captain Diabetes' charged ability has him eat massive amounts of sugar in order to double his health and attack power for eight seconds, which is based off of what he does during his "High-Fructose Death Wave" Ultimate Power Move in South Park: The Fractured but Whole.
  • Freeze Ray: Professor Chaos's Warcry ability has him deal damage to enemies in front of him and freeze them for 2 seconds.
  • Green Thumb: Mary Jane Randy's Charged ability has him summon a potted plant that attracts nearby enemy units into attacking it for a limited time, providing a distraction for allies to take advantage of and attack the enemies while they're distracted.
  • Immune to Mind Control: Professor Chaos, Tupperware, and the Chaos Hamsters cannot be mind-controlled.
  • Kill and Replace: Changeling Red kills the nearest ground enemy under a third of their health and transforms into them.
  • Nigh-Invulnerability: Human Kite's Charged ability gives all allied units underneath him, excluding himself, invincibility for a limited time.
  • No-Sell:
    • Tupperware and Chaos Hamsters are immune to all status effects and spells. As a downside however, they can't be healed.
    • Professor Chaos is Immune to Mind Control.
  • Power Copying: Changeling Red's Charged ability has her kill the nearest living ground enemy unit in range under a third of their health and transform into them. Her card art shows her doing it to ManBearPig.
  • Promoted to Playable: After being Dummied Out in South Park: The Fractured but Whole, Doctor Timothy is a playable character card here as a Rare 4-Cost Ranged unit with a charged ability that lifts the furthest ground-based enemy unit in range for a limited time and then slams them down, which damages them.
  • Status Buff:
    • The Coon's attack increases for every other friendly Superheroes unit that's on the field.
    • Mint-Berry Crunch's Warcry ability boosts the max HP of all allied units within a certain range.
  • Trap Master: Trap cards were introduced alongside Superheroes and have so far been the only theme to use them. Toolshed and General Disarray can also place traps themselves, with Toolshed having a Charged ability that allows him to place Chompers on the field (otherwise, he'd disarm any enemy traps on the field), and General Disarray having a Warcry ability that allows him to place Lava at the furthest enemy unit within his field of range and charge towards them.

    Neutral 

Neutral

The Neutral theme is essentially the odd one out, having no playstyle of its own but provides units capable of being used alongside any combination of one or two other themes. The closest thing they have to a playstyle is with the Goth Kids, who give each other benefits when on the field at the same time.

  • Addiction-Powered: Towelie smokes a bong as soon as he's deployed, and it's implied this is where his ability (slowing down opponents around him) comes from.
  • Anti-Magic: Mayor McDaniels' Warcry ability resets the charge power of all enemies and stops their charge for a limited time. She used to only do the former until she received a buff in an update.
  • Area of Effect: Nelly, Nathan, Terrance Mephesto, and President Garrison's attacks all deal area damage.
  • Back from the Dead: Terrance Mephesto, if South Park: The Fractured but Whole is any indication.
  • Blown Across the Room: Future Randy's Warcry ability has him warping time to pull all units in range towards their leaders and freeze them for 3 seconds, with affected allied units also being healed by a certain amount.
  • The Bus Came Back: ManBearPig, Scuzzlebutt, Starvin' Marvin, and Terrance Mephesto all make their return to the series after a long disappearance.
  • Cannibalism Superpower: The Woodland Critters' charged ability has them kill the nearest ally unit and absorbing their health and attack.
  • Cast from Hit Points: Henrietta sacrifices a small portion of her health to revive her fellow Goth Kids when they die, though she can't use this to revive herself, and she can't die from doing so either.
  • Flying Mook: Pigeon Gang, Terrance Mephesto, and Starvin' Marvin.
  • Friend to All Children: Scuzzlebutt is shown offering flowers and celery to children in his card art, but all the children are running away from him in fear.
  • Necromancer: Henrietta can revive any fallen Goth Kid in exchange for a small fraction of her own health until she herself is defeated, though she cannot die from doing this.
  • No-Sell:
    • As long as Michael is on the field, he and all friendly Goth Kid units are immune to harmful spells.
    • Scuzzlebutt's Deathwish ability gives the nearest ally immunity to harmful spells and increases their max health.
  • Overcrank: Towelie's Aura ability slows all enemy units within range.
  • Regenerating Health: As long as Pete is on the field, he and all friendly Goth Kid units heal for a fraction of the damage they deal.
  • Status Buff:
    • Mr. Mackey's Aura ability increases the attack of every friendly kid unit within range.
    • Firkle's Deathwish ability increases the attack of all friendly Goth Kid units on the field.
    • Scuzzlebutt's Deathwish ability increases the max health of his nearest ally and grants them immunity to harmful spells.
