Team Falcon is a registered team in the Smash King tournament, comprised of Captain Falcon, Marth and Luigi. Due to the eccentricity of their leader and a losing streak which has lasted the entire month, Team Falcon becomes the laughingstock of the World of Trophies and is currently ranked dead last on the leaderboards.

"No matter what Sonic has to live, and that goes for the rest of you."

The Hot-Blooded captain of Team Falcon. He is usually found at the Bridge of Eldin looking to intercept other teams.

  • The All-Solving Hammer: Or rather, the All-Solving Punch. If Captain Falcon sees something he perceives to be a threat, he's guaranteed to try to Falcon Punch it. This strategy usually ends in failure, but the one time it does work, the result is pretty epic.
  • Back from the Dead: As with most characters who lose all their lives, Falcon was brought back not long after the fight with Link.
  • Boisterous Weakling: Captain Falcon loves to talk big about taking down anyone who comes by the Bridge of Eldin, but almost every single one of his battles ends in humiliating failure. Well, until Dark Link attacks.
  • Butt-Monkey: He's treated like this by both his team and other Smash King competitors because he continued to stay on the Bridge of Eldin to challenge teams, even though no one was showing up.
  • The Chew Toy: Until things get serious starting in Season 2, Captain Falcon's only role in most episodes is to be a walking punchline.
  • Cloudcuckoolander:
    • Rather than regroup at New Pork City like most teams (including his own), Captain Falcon decides to remain at the Bridge of Eldin 24/7, which causes people to avoid the place at all costs unless they feel like scoring a free win. Falcon also thinks that his team is among the best of the best, in spite of being dead last in tournament rankings.
    • Downplayed after his team's battle with Link, through his reincarnated self in Season 2. While he definitely is similar to his original self in terms of personality, he is more than willing to listen to his teammates (which results in him not hanging around the Bridge of Eldin all the time), and is less ignorant of what's going on in the greater world he lives in.
  • Crazy Homeless People: Since the Bridge of Eldin is the only "home" he has, Captain Falcon definitely comes across as this to other characters. The fact that he's one of the few non-human characters to not change his clothes regularly doesn't help.
  • De-power: Due to losing all of his ten lives, he's been reborn as a clean slate.
  • The Determinator: Despite being badly injured, and clearly at his limit he refused to let Link kill Sonic and his team at all costs.
  • Hated by All: Captain Falcon is a bigger punching bag than even the much-maligned Brawl Spectator Society. His strategy of "stay at the Bridge of Eldin and wait for other fighters" causes rival teams to stay away from the place, his combat skills are absolutely terrible, and he hasn't scored a single victory for most of the tournament. Not even his own teammates, Marth and Luigi take him seriously, and often complain about his shortcomings when they aren't with him (which is most of the time). This slightly changes after he's reborn however, where Falcon and his team actually work together to fight somewhere else, and actually manage to score a victory.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Dies after putting all his energy into a Falcon Punch, defeating Link after a grueling fight.
  • Killed Off for Real: The Falcon from the start of the series lost all ten of his lives, but he was reborn anew shortly after.
  • Large Ham: He doesn't seem to know what an inside voice is.
    Captain Falcon: FALCON PUNCH!!
  • Limited Wardrobe: Captain Falcon plays this trope entirely straight in a world where this trope is decidedly averted for the most part. Word of God says that this trope was invoked in order to give Falcon more of a hobo-like characterization, which makes sense given that the guy literally lives on a bridge.
  • Made of Iron: He is cut up by Link during their fight, but he still manages to defeat Link, albeit at the cost of his own life, through sheer willpower.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red to Sonic and Marth's blue.
  • Sore Loser:
    • He doesn't take his initial loss to Sonic very well, growing a fierce rivalry with the hedgehog as a result. Granted, Sonic was being a bit of a jerkass about it, but the trope still stands.
    • Averted with the second incarnation of Falcon who races against Sonic, who merely remarks that he lost, and agrees to a rematch sometime later.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Captain Falcon is dismissed as a complete joke by most smashers, but somehow he thinks he's one of the toughest, more powerful fighters in all of Brawl. Needless to say, he really isn't.
  • Spam Attack: Part of the reason Captain Falcon is so inept at battle is because he constantly tries to use his Falcon Punch against his foes, which they use to their advantage. He only manages to pull off one successful usage of it against Dark Link, which ultimately costs him his life.
  • The Rival: Sonic is this to him when it comes to speed, both in terms of philosophy and literal competition. While Captain Falcon wants everyone to feel what it's like to be fast, Sonic wants the title of being the fastest thing alive all to himself.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Now that he isn't sticking to The Bridge of Eldin he and his team are actually pretty competent in combat, even if they likely won't crawl out of the bottom of the barrel. He also appears to be more curious of the events circling Bowser, and wants to find out more about what's going on.

"I'm sorry, but I can not accept that reasoning."

A member of Team Falcon, he is the most level headed member of the team.

  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Marth is nothing short of frustrated when he has to deal with Captain Falcon during the early days of the tournament, and doesn't seem to care much about him at all. But when Falcon ultimately burns himself out after defeating Dark Link, Marth gets incredibly upset, culminating in him confronting Falco about how President Dedede brushed off Captain Falcon's death, allowing them to continue competing despite breaking the rules or letting Link go unpunished. He's also more than eager to rejoin Team Falcon after the Captain is reincarnated, in spite of the chances of the team going anywhere are relatively low.
  • Berserk Button: It doesn't seem like he has very many buttons to push, but one thing he will not accept is President Dedede simply passing off Captain Falcon's death.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Although he doesn't do it often, Marth definitely makes the most quips out of his team.
  • Made of Iron: He is cut up real bad by Link, and continues to power through so he can fight.
  • The Stoic: Out of the members of Team Falcon, he's the most composed. This contrasts with Captain Falcon's Hot-Blooded attitude.
  • Tranquil Fury: He confronts Falco about the original Captain Falcon's death. All he does is very calmly point his blade at Falco's face and demands answers as to what's going on in the world and why the President has been so lax about it.
  • Wrecked Weapon: His Falchion is shattered during the battle with Link. It gets repaired some time later.
    Luigi

Luigi

"Bean Pole?"

A member of Team Falcon, as well as Mario's brother.

  • Always Second Best: To Mario.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Does this after explaining why he still talks with the Italian accent despite being capable of talking without it like Mario.
Luigi: At least I clarified it for you all.
    Marth: For you all?
  • Cowardly Lion: Luigi is a bit of a coward. While he had the courage to fight Link at first, he is quick to keep his distance after a Curb-Stomp Battle.
  • Official Couple: With Daisy.
  • Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: Luigi drops his standard Italian accent precisely once in the series so as to explain why he keeps it, before promptly going back to it shortly afterward.
  • Satellite Character: In Melee is was only ever seen with Mario and Peach. Now you'll only ever catch him with Marth.
  • Shared Family Quirks: Played with. Like Mario, Luigi's Italian accent isn't actually his real voice. However, Luigi prefers to use his Italian accent 24/7 in contrast to his brother who only uses it when he's around Peach or hit really hard by somebody. When Marth inquires about it, Luigi admits that he keeps the accent so as to not once again be following what his brother does.
  • Sibling Team: In Melee he and Mario both protected Peach.
  • Successful Sibling Syndrome: While Mario is tied with Team Bowser in tournament rankings by the end of Season 2, poor Luigi is stuck with Team Falcon with zero points.
