    Angela

Angela Baker a.k.a Peter Baker

A reclusive young girl who was the sole survivor of a tragic boating accident which claimed the lives of her father and brother. She is sent to Camp Arawak for the first time with her cousin Ricky, where she soon becomes the victim of bullying from many of the other campers. Angela is also the Camp Arawak killer. After surviving the boat accident which killed his father and sister (the real Angela), Peter was put under the care of his mentally ill Aunt Martha, who forced him to assume the identity of his dead twin. The bullying Peter suffered at Camp Arawak compounded his already fractured mental state, causing him to emerge as a vengeful serial killer.

  • A-Cup Angst: Reinforced by Judy's teasing.
  • Ax-Crazy: Is willing to murder anyone who wrongs her in horrific ways.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: Is actually the murderer.
  • Big Bad: You'd never suspect her either.
  • Break the Cutie: Was traumatized by a series of events ranging from her father's death to being forced to live as a girl to constant bullying.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Increasingly violent and bloody revenge is taken for lesser and lesser offenses.
  • Freudian Excuse: Peter has several, witnessing the death of his family, being forced into assuming the identity of his dead sister, and enduring horrible bullying at Camp Arawak.
  • Hates Being Touched: A condition that frustrates her would-be boyfriend Paul. Being Raised as the Opposite Gender might have something to do with it.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Is almost always seen with a constant frown for most of the film. That doesn't stop her from smiling from time to time whenever she's interacting with her friends (i.e. Paul, Ricky).
  • The Quiet One: She doesn't say a word for most of her trip.
  • Raised as the Opposite Gender: Born Peter Baker, his aunt forced him to assume the identity of his dead sister after surviving the boating accident.
  • Replacement Goldfish: For the real Angela Baker, who perished in a boating accident.
  • Shrinking Violet: Angela is painfully shy and unable to verbally defend herself against her tormentors.
  • Sole Survivor: Of the boating accident which killed her father and her brother. As it turns out, Peter was the Sole Survivor, not the original Angela.
  • Tragic Villain: A rare case in a slasher film where the killer is FAR more sympathetic than their victims.
  • Walking Spoiler: Discussing her implies revealing both that she is the killer and actually a boy.
  • When She Smiles: Despite her constant perpetual frown, she's not above smiling from time to time whenever she's with her friends (i.e. Paul, Ricky).
  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: Despite the horrible crimes they commit, Peter/Angela is still the most likable character by the end of the film, due to the trauma they endured and their seemingly sweet demeanor. The sequels add to this by making it seem like she has an apparent obsession with going to camp in general. She's reintroduced as Camp Rolling Hills #1 counselor, and is very enthusiastic about her job. This, along with her only targeting naughty kids and people who get in the way, suggests that she truly wants an ideal camping experience, and laments that it seems to always turn to murder. Teenage Wasteland has a scene of her walking solemnly through the dining hall, reminiscing about how happy she was being named #1 counselor at Rolling Hills (and she even distorts the memory into being much more joyous than it was in reality).
  • Would Hurt a Child: Butchers 4 children in their sleeping bags for throwing sand on them.

    Ricky

Ricky Thomas

Angela's protective cousin who accompanies her to Camp Arawak. Ricky has been to Camp Arawak a few times before and is more sociable than Angela, but has a firey temper which comes out whenever somebody picks on his cousin.

  • Ambiguous Situation: How much does Ricky know about his cousin's situation back at home.
  • Angrish: Delivers several profane rants to anyone who picks on Angela.
  • Berserk Button: Anybody picking on Angela.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Is angry beyond belief at anyone who picks on Angela.
  • Deadpan Snarker: "Eat shit and live, Bill".
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Gets very angry and upset whenever his cousin gets bullied by the other campers.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite his aggressive and foul-mouthed demeanor he's very caring and protective to Angela and also best friends with Paul.
  • Red Herring: Ricky's enraged outbursts at kids who end up dead shortly after leads to Mel mistaking him for the killer.
  • We Used to Be Friends: It's implied that he and Paul stopped being friends considering that he doesn't hang out with him after he catches him kissing Judy.

    Paul

Paul

Ricky's best friend who develops a romance with Angela.

  • All Men Are Perverts: Pressures Angela physically and, after she denies his advances, cheats on her with Judy.
  • Nice Guy: Subverted in that he's pushy and willing to cheat.
  • Off with His Head!: Angela kills him by cutting off his head.
  • Puppy Love: Develops a case of it with Angela. Dramatically subverted.

    Ronnie

Ronnie

One of the main camp counselors. A nice guy who tries his best to help Angela.

  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He's a nice guy who genuinely tries to keep peace at the camp and is sympathetic towards the bullied and lonely Angela.
  • Token Good Teammate: Is seen as the lone, main adult at the camp who is neither a bully, a jerkass, a pervert nor a combination of the three.

    Mel

Mel Kostic

The cynical, money grubbing owner of Camp Arawak.

  • Asshole Victim: Gets an arrow to the throat by the real killer after attacking and beating Ricky up in cold blood.
  • Greed: His only concern from the murders is how this affects his bottom line.
    • Subverted, to an extent, that he raises the pay of everyone after the first accident and promotes someone much worthier.
  • Hate Sink: Not to the same extent as Artie but he's still extremely obnoxious and greedy, pursues a girl three times younger than him, unfairly suspects Ricky of being the killer, stopping him from saving Angela from Meg at one point and then Almost beats the poor kid to death. By the time Angela sticks an arrow in his neck, the audience will be begging for him to go.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Zeroes in on Ricky as the camp murderer.
  • Jerkass: He's shown to be very cranky and neglectful for a camp owner. He also antagonizes Ricky after accusing him to be the killer despite having no evidence or proof.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After attacking and beating Ricky up in cold blood he encounters the real killer who shoots an arrow through his neck.
  • May–December Romance: Is in a relationship with Meg despite her being too young for him.
  • Skewed Priorities: Is more concerned about his camp's reputation than the lives lost.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Almost kills Ricky, believing him to be the murderer in the camp.

    Judy

Judy

The camp bitch and one of Angela's main tormentors. Would later star in a short film spinoff Judy (2014).

  • Alas, Poor Villain: While Judy is an extremely nasty person her apparent death is beyond horrific and no one, not even Judy deserved that, as she's still a child, this is subverted however because of the short film that showed she survived.
  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: With waist-length dark hair, being the tallest girl in the cast and a mean bully - you bet she qualifies!
  • Alpha Bitch: One of the most extreme examples in any horror movie. Despite not seeming to have a huge circle of friends, Judy more than makes up for it with her conceited, manipulative nature and her vicious bullying of Angela.
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: It's stated that she filled out between this summer and the last, and therefore has become far more attractive.
  • Character Development: The adult Judy shown in her spinoff short is nigh unrecognizable from the Alpha Bitch seem in the film. After her near death experience, she has become more caring and empathetic toward others, especially abused children. On the flip side, her psychotic scars and Mama Bear instincts warp her into another venful killer.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Poor Judy suffers death by curling iron in her vagina. Subverted where her short film spinoff reveals she survived, albeit was left sterile.
  • Hate Sink: To an extent, she's a cruel vile bully with little if any redeeming features but unlike Meg or Artie she is genuinely entertaining and witty.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Of a sort. Her short film depicts Judy having grown out of she Alpha Bitch role, and is a genuinely caring and empathetic individual, and is protective of abused children...for better or worse this morphes her into a Vigilante Serial Killer.
  • Mama Bear: As an adult, she becomes a protective figure towards children of abusive and neglected children. She even works a hotline where she is seen comforting a girl who suffered sexual violence, assuring her it's not her fault and it will all be okay. That's just her day job, on the side she goes about torturing and murdering those who victimize children.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She gets a couple of scenes in bikinis, always wears short shorts and tight t-shirts emphasizing her assets.
  • Psycho Pink: The ultimate mean girl, whose Iconic Outfit includes a pink t-shirt with her name on it and in another scene she has pink shorts. She also wears a rose bathrobe.
  • Really Gets Around: She flirts with all the boys, and makes out with Paul just to hurt Angela. Her death scene even happens right after she's had a makeout session with another boy.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: She points out that Angela never showers with the other girls, and is trying to hide that she's flat-chested. She's right that Angela is trying to hide something, and technically the flat chest is part of it, but what she's actually hiding is that she's actually Peter.

    Meg

Meg

A mean counselor and Judy's best friend.

  • Asshole Victim: More so than the other characters. As a counsellor, she frequently abuses her authority and bullies Angela in a way that would likely get her fired if anyone but Mel had been running the camp.
  • Beta Bitch: She's one to Judy, which is ironic; as Meg is a counsellor, she technically outranks Judy, but Judy is the one who leads the bullying and Meg acts more like her sidekick.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Sometimes she'll be nice to the campers, but will quickly become mean if she doesn't get what she wants.
  • Hate Sink: She's a mean camp counsellor who is rotten to Angela throughout the whole film, with no redeeming qualities at all.
  • In the Back: The killer hacks her back open with a knife.
  • Jerkass: Showed no remorse in bullying Angela by throwing her in the water.
  • May–December Romance: Initiates one with Mel despite him being old enough to be her grandfather.

    Aunt Martha

Martha Thomas

Ricky's mother and Angela's aunt. A mentally ill woman and Angela's primary guardian.

  • Abusive Parents: Forcing her young charge to be Raised as the Opposite Gender marks her as one of these instantly.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Despite her eccentricity, she's a qualified doctor and able to raise two children after her husband's departure.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Behaves in a rather kooky and weird way for an aunt.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: What she did to Peter to turn him into Angela. Had she not been so obsessed with having a little girl around the house, instead of another boy, Peter would've had far fewer psychological issues leading to becoming a murderer.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: A paper indicates her abuse of Peter becomes public post-massacre.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: She only appears in the early part of the film, aside from one flashback at the end, and she is responsible for raising Peter as a girl and kicking off the murders.

    Artie

Artie

The perverted head chef of Camp Arawak.

  • Asshole Victim: A pedophile rapist that openly ogles his young charges before assaulting a young girl in a pantry. He also threatened to kill Ricky after he interrupted his attempted rape.
  • Devil in Plain Sight: He makes no secret that he's a pedophile, and everyone else just treats it like a joke.
  • Evil Chef: By virtue of being a pedophile and an attempted rapist.
  • Hate Sink: Artie is a pedophile who spends every single moment on screen being either a creep or violent, to say he's disgusting is putting it lightly.
  • Jerkass: An unapologetic pedophile who works at a summer camp for kids and doesn't try to hide his behavior when he interacts with them.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Gets his comeuppance when he's scalded by a big pot of hot boiling water after the killer yanks the chair he was standing on.
  • Pædo Hunt: He openly lusts after the young campers.
  • Uncertain Doom: It's unknown if he survived after getting scalded by a big pot of hot boiling water considering that he's taken to a hospital by some paramedics after he got scalded.
  • Would Hurt a Child: On top of being a pedophile, he threatens to kill Ricky when he interrupts his attempted rape.
