These are the characters in Rollerdrome.

Protagonist

    Kara Hassan
The main protagonist of the game, an up-and-coming rookie player going up against the most heated tournament yet. Later becomes the 2030 Rollerdrome champion, and proceeds to compete the following year.
  • Action Girl: Considering what the sport itself entails, it suffices to say that this is all but a given.
  • Deadpan Snarker: More often than not, particularly during the Narrative preludes before each Stage of the tournament.
Kara: (examining Caspar's helmet) I'm surprised his head fits in this.
  • Charged Attack: The Z-11's (final weapon unlocked) main gimmick is being able to charge up your shot and dispatch most mooks in the game with a single shot, also boasting the furthest reach of the four weapons available to Kara. Of course, this comes at the cost of ammo capacity since fully charged shots cost two-thirds of your (universal) ammo.
  • Fragile Speedster: Kara might be very quick and nimble on her toes, but if you're not careful, she'll quickly wind up dead thanks to a stray shot or a runaway missile.
  • Guns Akimbo: Her starting weapons are a pair of trusty dual pistols, which are also the most useful for extending combo strings and dealing with tanky enemies like the Riot Guards or Warheads.
  • Heroic Mime: Played With. She rarely - if ever - actually speaks during gameplay (beyond a death scream whenever she dies), but most of her interactions throughout the Narrative portions after every stage of the championship are often her own thoughts.
  • The Heroine: Of Rollerdrome.
  • Grenade Launcher: The third weapon unlocked in the game. A great crowd control tool that has amazing range and area of effect, but has the lowest ammo capacity (and as such, takes the longest for its ammo to fill up).
  • Leitmotif: Her self-titled theme, one of the many tracks that plays throughout the game. It's a piece that starts out slow and melancholic, before shifting gears into something still somber, but more heroic.
  • One-Woman Army: By the final stage of the tournament, Kara would've likely taken out a city's worth of House Players, let alone enough to fill an entire arena.
  • Red Is Heroic: Her uniform is bright red in color.
  • Shotguns Are Just Better: The second weapon unlocked in the game. Compared to the pistols, it deals far more damage (especially when you time your Slug Shots properly), but it comes at the cost of range. Though when you pair its slug shots with the aforementioned pistols, you'll be shredding enemy health bars rather quickly.

Competitors

    Morgan Fray

  • The Ace: One of the challenges throughout each level is to beat her high score. On top of that, she was also a former champion, so it's no surprise that she's the example that Kara follows.
  • Killed Offscreen: One of the newspapers Kara can read in the prologue to Green Bay Mall is that of her death, having died during the tournament.
  • Nice Girl: Especially compared to Caspar. Morgan leaves behind a sticky note at the beginning of the game that offers words of encouragement to Kara.

    Caspar Ickx
  • Sore Loser: Implied when you find his broken helmet on the floor after the final, with the ingame caption even calling him such.
  • You Fight Like a Cow:
Caspar: (via message) By the way, you skate like a rhino.
