  • Bragging Rights Option: Getting an S Rank on every stage. You don't exactly have to and aren't in any way incentivized to do so (again, see the plethora of Anti-Frustration Features on the main page) beyond getting your name on the leaderboards, but godspeed if you're up to the task.
  • Demonic Spiders: When they're introduced in Echo Basin, you will learn to hate Polybeams very quickly. It's one thing for their namesake attack to deal a crapton of damage, but said attack also lingers for a fair bit, doing plenty of chip damage to Kara that stacks quickly if you're not constantly spamming the roll button. Oh, and just to add insult to injury, if you don't kill them quickly with the Slug Shot/Pistol combo, they'll teleport to another part of the arena, ruining your combo flow and making them that much more annoying in the process.
  • Fan Nickname: Tony Hawk's Pro Shooter, to nobody's surprise. Just comparing the two games side-by-side, it's not hard to see where the name comes from.
  • Goddamned Bats:
    • Snipers. They're not at all difficult to take out on their own (if anything, the Z-11 is especially effective against them), but their tendency to be placed in the most out-of-reach spots in the arena often means having to scramble just to get a clear shot at them at best. They tend to be at their most annoying in the latter portion of the game, where you'll be swarmed with anywhere from four to five of them at once, often accompanied by Polybeams (mentioned above).
    • Warheads are pretty quickly dealt with if you're quick and skilled with both your Slug Shots and Dual Pistols. Too slow, however, and they'll raise their shields, forcing you to either drain them (wasting precious ammo and time) or just wait until they lower them. Try to contend with that and their frequent missile barrages and you'll be having a bad day with these guys before you know it.
  • Spiritual Adaptation: If you think about it, this game has a surprising amount in common with WipEout. Notably, both games revolve around a very dangerous combat sport (taken to its logical extreme in WipEout Fusion) set in the near future with a subplot about an evil corporation running the tournament (in WipEout's case, it wouldn't be until the fourth game where that rings true), and both have very simplistic art styles to them (particularly Wip3out). It also doesn't hurt that both games have quite the learning curve to them, either.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: The game's visuals are just downright gorgeous, taking cues from both Jet Set Radio and the works of MÅ“bius, all while running very smoothly across every platform it's on.
