  • The Cameo: Some Torchic appear in one of its victory animations.
  • Playing with Fire: Most of Blaziken's Specials has it send out a projectile or engulf its fists or foot with flames. One of its victory animations has it engulf its entire body in a tower of fire.
  • Shotoclone: Blaziken has a projectile, a rush attack, and uppercut for its specials, all which are standards for a shotoclone.

  • Assist Character: Chesnaught is accompanied by Chespin that helps it with a few of its attacks.
  • Bullet Seed: Its Neutral Special (Bullet Seed) has Chesnaught feed Chespin a berry. Once B is pressed again, it spits the seeds out as projectiles.
  • Shield Bash: A number of its attacks such as Air Shield Smash and Shield Bash have it use the shield on its back.
  • Spike Shooter: Its Super, Spike Cannon has it launch spikes from its back.
  • Tough Spikes and Studs: Its shield and arms are covered in spikes, with are used for a number of its attacks.

  • Charge Attack: Quaking Stomp is capable of being charged, which increases its area of effect.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Changing its direction while it's rolling has it launch rocks in its opposite direction.
  • Spin Attack: Whirling Fortress has it spin on the ground.
  • Rolling Attack: Dashing has it curl into a wheel, which allows for some attacks like Heavy Slam.

  • Shock and Awe: It can use a lighting bolt that goes across the screen.
