Main Characters (Unmarked Spoilers)

    Bonnie Roux
The heroine of the game. A little bunny girl who lives with Hunter.

    Hunter Wolf
A wolf who lives with Bonnie.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Subverted. Initially he seems to be a benevolent take on The Big Bad Wolf as a friendly caretaker to Bonnie. Then the finale reveals that he's long been twisted into a Yandere by the Parallel's influence and he immediately tries to kidnap Bonnie to keep her safe, and is willing to kill anyone who he sees as in the way.
  • Irony: In some bad ends he kills Carnation, who turns out to be his long lost aunt.
  • Yandere: Bonnie was the one light of his life after losing his entire family and being trapped in the Parallel for so long, and so he killed her abusive grandmother in front of her, took her in, and keeps her isolated from the world. It turns out he's been stalking her and taking pictures of her, and when he decides its too dangerous to keep her in the house any longer, he immediately tries to kidnap her and kill anyone who he feels is in the way.

The Parallel

    Miss Carnation

Maia Wolf

A strange woman with a flower head who guides Bonnie through the Parallel. In truth she's Maia, Hunter long lost aunt, and one of the creators of the portal to the Parallel.

  • The Atoner: She seeks to make amends for her involvement in the portal to the Parallel by taking care of the people trapped inside.
  • Body Horror: Looks like a flower hybrid, due to staying for years in the Parallel. We even get to see as giant petals sprout from her face!
  • Brainy Brunette: Was this before her mutation.
  • It's All My Fault: On some level, she believes that she deserves what the Parallel's done to her, because she feels responsible for Doe's death.
  • Love Martyr: Willingly stays in the Parallel to revive Doe, even after it warns her it's a futile task.
  • Ms. Exposition: Because Bonnie knows nothing about the Parallel, Carnation spends most of her time infodumping Bonnie regarding almost any possible subject.
  • Team Mom: Tries her darnest to take care of the Parallel residents.
  • You Are Worth Hell: Could have escaped the Parallel years ago, but willingly stayed in order to bring Doe back to life.
  • You Remind Me of X: Admits she has a soft spot for Bonnie because she reminds her of Doe. And possibly because she's her nephew's girlfriend too.
  • Was Once a Man: Used to be a wolf woman before being digested by the Parallel.

    Garbage Gary
"The rats...I can hear them....they're hungry...in the other world..."
A gloomy creature that hides inside a garbage bin
  • Animal Lover: Has a soft spot for rats and asks Bonnie to feed them properly.
  • Ate His Gun: When he was human he shot himself after accidentally killing his wife.
  • Green Is Gross: He has green messy hair, lives in a trash can, and has an extreme fondness for trash.
  • Hates Everyone Equally: Openly admits to despising everyone. The few exceptions being rats, Carnation and eventually Bonnie.
  • Story Breadcrumbs: His and Eyerene's story is hinted through one of the "Who Died First" puzzles.
  • Was Once a Man: Used to be a human before being digested by the Parallel.

    Eyerene
"Whatever it is, I cannot do it. There are no mirrors in this world, so what's the point...?"
A vain woman with an eye for a head.
  • Accidental Murder: How she died, she and Garbage Gary fought over a broken mirror, he pushed her, and she fell and struck her head.
  • Jerkass to One: She's rather callous towards Garbage Gary. Who turns out to be her husband when she was alive.
  • Pet the Dog: Thinks that Bonnie is cute and shouldn't be hiding her face under her cloak.
  • Story Breadcrumbs: Her and Garbage Gary's story is hinted through one of the "Who Died First" puzzles.
  • Vanity Is Feminine: Is very vain and obsessed with her appearance, always looking at her reflection.
  • Was Once a Man: Used to be a human before being digested by the Parallel.

    Top Hat, Fedora, and Bowler
"My, my! What brilliant bows you have, my dear! (Top Hat)"
"Hey there~ What's a cute thing like yourself doing out here all alone? (Fedora)"
"I'd give anything to sit at that table....! (Bowler)"
Three humanoid men with hats for heads that are having a fancy dinner. In truth they're Mr. Red, Mr. Blue and Mr. Yellow, three roommates who died and whose souls got trapped in the Parallel.
  • Accidental Murder: How Mr. Yellow died.
  • The Hedonist: Mr. Blue spent his time gambling and womanizing, which resulted in his death. He continues to do so as Fedora.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Mr. Blue spent all their life savings on gambling. Mr. Red's reaction? Cut his body with a chainsaw!
  • Story Breadcrumbs: Their story is hinted through one of the "Who Died First" puzzles.
  • Token Good Teammate: Bowler is probably the nicest of the trio because he's not a hedonist (Fedora) nor a snob (Top Hat).
  • Uncertain Doom: We don't know how Mr. Red died and became Top Hat, but he probably became trapped like Bonnie. He was quite troubled after accidentally killing Mr. Yellow and disposing Mr. Blue's corpse, so it's likely the Parallel took advantage to feed off his negative emotions.
  • Was Once a Man: Used to be humans before being digested by the Parallel.

    Doe
"Do you believe in parallel worlds, Maia?"
A....well, doe and Maia's friend. Spent many years searching for the Parallel, wanting to transform it into a Happy Place for misfits. What she doesn't know is that the place is sentient and it proceeds to break her mind until she kills herself.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": She's a doe named doe.
  • Curiosity Is a Crapshoot: Discovering the Parallel costs her life.
  • Driven to Suicide: She chose to kill herself rather than sacrifice Maia's life in order to escape the Parallel.
  • The Lost Lenore: Maia's crush on her and her subsequent death is what eventually leads her to stay in the Parallel in order to bring her back to life.
  • Trans Tribulations: It's implied that she was a trans woman, signified by a puzzle in which Bonnie cuts the antlers off a deer. No wonder she wanted to help misfits.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Not only does her research kill her, it damns anyone who enters Maia's house.
  • Posthumous Character: Died ten years before the start of the game.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: She had pink hair and was a sweet girl who wanted to help people.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: She wanted to enter the Parallel and transform it into a Happy Place for misfits, which caused her death, Maia's transformation and the Parallel dragging many others into its clutches.

    Reflection

    Wolf Spider

A giant spider who chases Bonnie though different areas. She represents Bonnie's guilt over her grandmother's death.

  • Big Bad Ensemble: With the Parallel. Specifically, it's the physical manifestation of Bonnie's subconscious desire to be punished for her grandmother's death.
  • Giant Spider: What she is.
  • Mental Monster: Is a fabrication of Bonnie's guilt and trauma that she projected onto Daciana. While the real Daciana was a Troubled Abuser, she wasn't a crazy psycho bent on murdering Bonnie.
  • Tulpa: She's Bonnie's guilt incarnated.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: How she's defeated, by Bonnie admitting that her mother's death wasn't her fault and that Daciana had been abusing her for something out of her control.

    The Parallel
A sentient dimension that feasts on the despair of lost souls.
  • Big Bad: It is the dimension that trapped Bonnie and several others inside itself to devour them.
  • Genius Loci: The Parallel is a sentient dimension that traps people inside it to eat their souls.
  • Karma Houdini: In all endings, it remains out there, still dragging people into its dimension to feast on their souls.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: In the Golden Ending, it is willing to let Bonnie and Hunter go like it did for an unnamed soul in the past because they came to terms with their traumatic past, and as a result their souls now taste disgusting to it.
  • Sadist: It feasts on miserable souls and so tries to make its victims suffer. With Bonnie, it makes her do a puzzle based on her family's horrible breakdown that started when she was born and killed her mother.
  • Villainous Breakdown: At the end of the final area, it sends the Wolf Spider after Bonnie and Hunter while leaving angry messages on the wall about how they “ruined” its Sadistic Choice puzzle. The next time we meet it in the Golden Ending, it has been utterly defeated and let’s them go since their souls no longer taste good.

Others

    Daciana Roux

Daciana Roux

Bonnie's grandmother, who died at the beginning of the game.

  • Adaptational Villainy: This version of Red's grandmother is an abusive Gruesome Grandparent who blames Bonnie for her family all dying or vanishing, and is eventually transformed into a spider monster who continues trying to kill Bonnie.
  • Asshole Victim: After all the abuse she put her granddaughter Bonnie through, she got killed by Hunter right before she herself was about to kill Bonnie with an ax. While this act serves as Hunter's Start of Darkness, it nevertheless comes off as deserved.
  • Gruesome Grandparent: She forced Bonnie to work delivery, repeatedly guilt-tripped her, did things like making her go without dinner and locking her outside the house in the rain as punishments, and left her with a lot of trauma as a result.
  • Love Makes You Evil: Abused Bonnie because she blamed her for the deaths of her daughter and husband.
  • Maternal Death? Blame the Child!: The reason she abused Bonnie is because her birth killed the mother, her daughter Angelique.
  • Parental Marriage Veto: Her parents disapproved of her marriage with Leveret because he was a poor baker.
  • Troubled Abuser: She pretty much suffered from losing her husband and daughter as much as her granddaughter suffered from her back then.

    Leveret Roux
Bonnie's deceased grandfather and Daciana's husband.

    Angelique Roux
Bonnie's deceased mother.
