    Main Characters

Special Agent Sheryll Barnes (Roxy Sternberg)

  • Action Mom: Sheryll is a mom of two as well as an FBI Agent who regularly faces down criminals and fugitives.
  • Bearer of Bad News: She ends up burdened with the horrible task of reporting Jess' death to Sarah.
  • Happily Married: To her lawyer wife, Charlotte. until season five when Charlotte regretfully tells her that she's developed feelings for someone else.
  • Institutional Allegiance Concealment: She did undercover work in the past in the NYPD to investigate underground gang activity and she sometimes goes for it when needed.
  • The Lancer: She's Jess's official second-in-command, contrasting his empathic profiling with a direct, if not cold investigative method.
  • Married to the Job: Is accused of being this by her partner due to Sheryll constantly being on assignment and not at home to spend time with her or her child.
  • Put on a Bus: Jess's death leaves her shaken up and in the subsequent episode, Special Agent-in-Charge Isobel Castille suggests she take her unused maternity leave to spend time with her family, including her newborn son, leading to her being absent for the rest of Season 3.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: A very downplayed example with her as the tomboy to Nina Chase's Girly Girl, however both are tomboys, but Nina wears traditionally feminine outfits (leather pants, form-fitting blouses/sweaters) while Sheryll opts for suits and denim.
  • Twofer Token Minority: An African-American lesbian.

Analyst Hana Gibson (Keisha Castle-Hughes)

  • Dark and Troubled Past: She was stalked by a former friend and suspect of the team a while back, who she didn't have the courage to confront until recently.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She loves laying down the snark. It's mostly directed towards suspects and Crosby.
  • Happily Adopted: She never knew her birth mother, and was happy enough with her life that she never bothered reaching out to her until adulthood. Only to find that she had passed away by that point.
  • Mission Control: While she can more than hold her own, her main job is to analyze the suspects' and victims' technical resources to give a greater idea of what the suspect's intentions are.
  • The Smart Guy: The resident techie of the team, more than capable of using technology to her advantage.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Crosby. They snark towards each other constantly, but they always have each other's back.
  • Voice with an Internet Connection: Hana often serves as mission control if she's not needed in the field.

Supervisory Special Agent Remy Scott (Dylan McDermott)

  • Cool Car: His introductory episode features him driving a vintage Alfa Romeo. In "Double Fault", a mercenary shoots it up while on a chase. Remy didn't take it too well.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Years ago, Remy's younger brother Mikey was kidnapped and murdered. His brother's death is what motivated Remy to pursue a career in the FBI. The latter half of Season 4 focuses on Remy resolving the murder when new evidence of Mikey's accused murderer comes to light, with the resolution occurring on the season finale.
  • Experienced Protagonist: The team's exposition dump of Scott mentions 23 years of service with the FBI.
  • Hidden Depths: He's a fan of Kevin James movies, apparently.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: New York City bagels, which he shares with the team.

Special Agent Ray Cannon (Edwin Hodge)

  • Dark and Troubled Past: As a black man from New Orleans, Ray grew up enduring bigotry and prejudice which he also encountered while working his way up through law enforcement.
  • Family Business: His father was also a FBI agent and is now retired.

Nina Chase (Shantel VanSanten)

  • Action Mom: Goes out into the field after her son's birth.
  • Fair Cop: A very attractive woman with high cheekbones like a model, certainly helps that she's played by Shantel VanSanten.
  • Hell-Bent for Leather: Often wears leather pants, even when working a case. Even in episodes that take place in warm weather.
  • Missing Mom: States that she didn't have a mom growing up, giving her no role model for how to be a mother herself and leading her to briefly overcompensate with her own baby.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Downplayed, her outfits are usually modest but her love of tight leather pants take advantage of her amazing figure. Rule of Sexy may be out in full force here, but her outfits actually aren't that impractical compared to most versions of this trope.
  • Office Romance: With Stuart Scola.
  • Official Couple: With Stuart Scola.
  • Thrill Seeker: The main motivation for Nina joining the Fugitive Task Force.
  • Tomboy: Nina admits to racing cars during her childhood and shows off her driving skills during a car chase in Season 5.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: A very downplayed example with Nina playing the Girly Girl to Sheryll Barnes's tomboy in that both are tomboys but Nina wears more traditionally feminine outfits (leather pants, form-fitting blouses and sweaters) while Sheryll's outfits are more masculine.
  • Transplant: Nina originally appeared in parent show FBI, working as part of the team there before getting pregnant.
  • Wrench Wench: A downplayed version of this. Knows enough about mechanics from repairing cars during her childhood.

    Recurring Characters

Tali LaCroix (YaYa Gosselin)

Nelson Skye (Lorne Cardinal)

Marilou Skye (Irene Bedard)

Byron LaCroix (Terry O'Quinn)

    Former Characters

Supervisory Special Agent Jess LaCroix (Julian McMahon)

  • Action Dad: The father to Tali and a trained FBI agent.
  • Character Death: Sadly, Special Agent LaCroix was unexpectedly shot and killed in the line of duty while protecting a Domestic Abuse victim from her violent ex.
  • A Father to His Men: Jess is willing to help his subordinates out with their problems as long as they can do the job.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Jess is estranged from his father, though the latter showed in Season 2 and said that he's willing to give their relationship another go to make up for his shortcomings. Subsequent episodes show them steadily bridging this gap up until Jess's untimely demise.
  • The Empath: He's sympathetic not only to his agents, but also to suspects; sympathizing with their plights to get them to stand down before they resort to force.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: In his final case, LaCroix was assisting a fleeing victim of Domestic Abuse in escaping from her violent ex when he caught up to them. Shots were fired and LaCroix was mortally wounded while shielding his charge when a bullet punctured his jugular vein.
  • The Leader: The levelheaded, charismatic leader of the FBI Fugitive Task Force.
  • The Profiler: His biggest strength as an agent is his deduction skills - profiling how and why fugitives do what they do. Jubal notes that his profiling abilities should be worthless in the world of FBI technology, but that's the reason why it's so effective - without his insight, the team would have a far harder time sympathizing with suspects.

Special Agent Clinton Skye (Nathaniel Arcand)

  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's a friendly spirit to be around, but he's the team's resident sniper and will shoot a suspect if necessary.
  • Friendly Sniper: Jess's brother-in-law Clinton is probably the nicest guy on the team. He's also a crack-shot with a sniper rifle, as some fugitives have learned the hard way.
  • Mellow Fellow: He's impressively chilled out no matter the situation.
  • Nerves of Steel: While the whole cast shows this, Clinton probably shows this trait off the best. No matter where the situation is headed - good or bad - he never loses his cool. This makes sense with his position as the team's resident sniper; he can't afford to get distracted by the details around him if he's focused on his target.
  • Put on a Bus: Clinton's been quietly reassigned to other parts of the FBI for undisclosed reasons.

Special Agent Kenny Crosby (Kellan Lutz)

  • Badges and Dog Tags: He served in the US Army prior to joining the FBI.
  • The Big Guy: He's the guy that usually in the frontlines of taking down subjects. It helps that he was ex-Army.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Kenny's known to have anger management issues. And he admits that he's not proud of it.
  • Fair Cop: Well, he's played by Kellan Lutz, what did you expect?
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: A very dark example. He has a tendency to lash out on suspects when he suspects that they aren't telling the truth, sometimes going as far as to try to beat them to death. Crosby is the first to admit that he's not proud of this and even goes to therapy for it, in a deconstruction of this trope.
  • Put on a Bus: Was shot and nearly killed in the FBI/FBI Most Wanted crossover episodes, but survived. Jess said it'll take months for him to recover to be able to get back on the job.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: Kenny's anger management issues stem from his time in Afghanistan.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Hana. They both love snarking at each other, but they always have each other's back.

Special Agent Ivan Ortiz (Miguel Gomez)

  • The Big Guy: He takes over as the most physical member after Crosby has to take an extended leave for his injury.
  • Experienced Protagonist: He was a former LAPD gang officer before becoming an FBI agent.
  • Hidden Depths: Ivan explains what Chronic traumatic encephalopathy is in "Gladiator", being a trained boxer before.
  • Put on a Bus: Leaves the Fugitive Task Force to take care of his ill father in Los Angeles after Season 3's finale.

Special Agent Kristin Gaines (Alexa Davalos)

  • Action Mom: An active FBI agent and a (divorced) mom of two children.
  • Amicable Exes: Lives in the same apartment building as her ex-husband, to facilitate their co-parenting of their two children.
  • Put on a Bus: As of Season 5, Kristin is transferred to Colorado to spend more time with her children.
  • Sixth Ranger: Joins the team in the third season after helping the team out during the FBI/Most Wanted crossover.
  • Sherlock Scan: Kristin's very observant when she finds things that are relevant to a case.
  • Badges and Dog Tags: Kristin worked in the U.S. Navy's Office of Naval Intelligence prior to joining the FBI.
