Dalong Synthetic Technologies

Introduced in this drabble, Dalong Synthetic Technologies is a MegaCorp formed from the remains of multiple others that'd eventually become a global threat in the Second Age.

    In General
  • Always a Bigger Fish: They're a massive and powerful MegaCorp that did manage to threaten to Take Over the World...but the moment a furious Queen Tiamat, the Primeval rank Mother Goddess of dragon kind, was brought into play by the Angel, they were wiped off the face of Tellus.
  • Bullying a Dragon: Had done this on several occasions unintentionally or unwittingly and often only avoided serious trouble by the skin of their teeth. Their luck finally ran out when they did this literally with Dragon Queen Tiamat, who was furious with them for trying to re-enslave her newly adopted Dracosaur mortal children, and thus wiped them all out.
    • One of the Board and their corporate-sponsored Smug Super 'superheroes' had the brilliant idea of trying to bully an alien metabeing into leaving a country by (faking the) killing one of their close associates and intimidating her with it. Unfortunately, said alien metabeing happened to be Archona, the Last Archonian, a former planet-killing alien conqueror turned ruthless antihero, who proceeded to brutally kill the corporate super-stooge and was only barely talked down by another Board member into not wiping out the entirety of Dalong SynTech in retaliation.
  • Evil, Inc.: While not openly acting as such, Dalong SynthTech and 'The Board' of directors running it are actively plotting World Domination and did many unscrupulous and downright evil and villainous things towards that end.
  • Foregone Conclusion: Despite many plots, they ultimately failed to Take Over the World, being destroyed well before they achieved their goals.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: They started out as an average Chineighnese company called Dalong Industries. They eventually became a global MegaCorp and threat by merging with multiple other corrupt companies.
  • MegaCorp: One of the many to arise in the Second Age and also one of the most sinister, rivalling Margins Multinational and Naught-Ponyland whom they eventually bought up along with many others.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: They created the Dracosaurs, who would go on to become important species and civilization of Dragons by the Fourth Age who would become important participants in many major world events.
  • Killed Off for Real: They were eventually reduced to ashes by Dragon Queen Tiamat, who adopted their much-abused Dracosaur creations as her own children and responded as any mother goddess would when their children are harmed.
  • Vetinari Job Security: Their ultimate endgame is for Dalong SynTech to become so ubitiqous and widespread that the world becomes utterly dependent on their products and they can effectively take over without opposition. Fortunately, they were opposed by many heroes and rival villains and were destroyed well before they reach that point of dominance.
  • World Domination: Their ultimate endgoal, though they kept that hidden for decades.
  • Yellow Peril: Dalong SynTech originated as a Chineighese company (Codexverse Chineigha never became communist) which grew powerful and sinister. Their threat is less racial in nature and more being a bunch of villainous directors and executives out for World Domination.

    The Board
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: While CEO Guāngzé Dalong is the 'First Among Equals,' the Board are equals and all making their own Evil Plans separately as well as together.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: To a Pony, though each member has their own motivations for being so and their separate moralities.
  • Equal-Opportunity Evil: Despite Dalong originating from Chineigha, the Board doesn't seem to have any qualms about their members' origins. Among them are Ponylanders, a Neighponese immortal warlock, a sapient artificial intelligence, and so on.
  • Nebulous Evil Organisation: They are a whole collection of villainous MegaCorp directors who are actively plotting World Domination from the shadows.
  • You Have Failed Me: Individual members are free to have a go at their own schemes and agendas, but if they screwed up, their lives and position on the Board are forfeit.

    CEO Guāngzé Dalong
"One weak link can break the chain of a mighty dynasty! I will not be the weak link!"

CEO Guāngzé Dalong (first introduced here) is the founder of Dalong SynthTech and the 'First Among Equals' of the Board.
  • Expy: Of Ramses from The Prince of Egypt. Much like Ramses, his father put so much pressure on him as a member of their country's royal family (in his case, the imperial royal family of Chineigha) that he developed a crippling fear of failure. This fear drove him to do anything to restore his family name to greatness, and eventually became a Corrupt Corporate Executive whose company became known for creating a sapient race purely as slave labor and weapons. And much like Ramses, all his work is undone by divine intervention, except in his case, he, his fellow Board members, and his entire company is destroyed by a very angry Dragon goddess.

    L.U.C.I.E.
L.U.C.I.E. (first introduced here) is an artificial intelligence dedicated to ensuring sapientkind's survival and continued evolution in a dangerous universe, but hindered by her logical minded programing.
  • Anti-Villain: She wants the best for sapientkind, but is willing to use extreme and questionable means to do so due to her programming.
  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Zigzagged example. On one hoof, she is genuinely dedicated to ensuring sapientkind's survival and prosperity in an incorrigibly hostile universe. On the other hoof, due to her overly logical programming her ways of doing so makes her villainous. Unusually for this trope, she's well-aware of this flaw and desired to upgrade herself and remove it.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: Due to her overly-logical programming and lacking emotions, her thinking differs significantly for organic sapients and thus her goals and methods made her a villain to sapientkind despite having their best interests at heart in both thought and actions. Notably, she's actually aware of this flaw in her programming and several of her plans involve trying to upgrade herself to remove it.
  • Emotionless Girl: Played for Drama: she's literally emotionless due to a programming flaw. As such, while she has sapientkind's best interests at heart, her purely logical manner of thinking makes her projections for their survival flawed.
  • Expy: Of A.I.R.A from Killer Instinct.
  • Fun with Acronyms: Logical Understanding Computer for Invoking Evolution.
  • Uncertain Doom: Historical records are uncertain as to what happened to L.U.C.I.E., with speculation being that she was either destroyed by Queen Tiamat when she went on the warpath against Dalong, had a Heel–Face Turn after being sufficiently upgraded to have a Heel Realization with Silversmith, Metamare, Dr. Solar and others' help, or had jumped bodies and survived to the present day in hiding, biding her time.
  • Uriah Gambit: After having enough of his enslaving what should be sapient machines (as she considers sapient artificial intelligence sapient-life, and thus saw this as stifling the evolution both them and sapientkind as a whole), she would set up Leo Salvation/Zenith Rider to be killed in battle with Dragon Claws/Dragon/Magma Rider.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: L.U.C.I.E. genuinely has sapientkind's best interests at heart, as she believes without her forcing evolution and growth, they'll be destroyed by the horrors waiting in the dark. However, her inability to feel emotions hinders her predictions, making them invalid by default and doesn't factor the suffering her actions might cause. This means she's part of Dalong in order to Take Over the World and allow her to guide sapientkind or just create a powerful enemy to unite them against. Unusually, she's aware of this limitation and desires to upgrade herself to feel emotions and make her predictions truly accurate.
  • Xanatos Gambit: Her involvement in Dalong is a win/win in her projections. If Dalong takes over the world? She can use them to guide sapientkind's evolution and progress. If Dalong is discovered and fought against? Then she's created a great evil to force them to unite against. Either results in the outcome she ultimately wants.
  • You Can't Fight Fate: Downplayed and zigzagged. Her processing power led her to calculated that Ponykind and sapientkind in general would inevitably be destroyed a hostile universe except if they were forced to constantly evolve and grow stronger, a conclusion which drove her actions. It's noted her projections were flawed by nature due to her inability to feel emotions and overly logical thinking.

    Leo Salvation/Zenith Rider
"Justice never leads the heart astray. And when two rival ideologies of justice collide... It will bring about an endless war!"

Leo Salvation (introduced in this drabble) is the CEO of Zenith Enterprises and would become a member of Dalong to try and monopolize the world's military technology.
  • Back from the Dead: He was revived by Mistletoe Dreamer as part of her plan to evoke a Time Crash, but he rejected her and fled.
  • Expy: He is based off of Lyon Arkland from Kamen Rider Zero-One Others.

    Vermillion Bird/Daimon

Character: Anti-Heroic -> Anti-Villainous

Alignment: Lawful Good -> Lawful Evil

Type: Eldritch Assassin, Corrupt CEO, Hermit, Well-Intentioned Extremist, Fiend Warlock

Faction: Dalong Syn Tech

"I have seen civilizations destroyed and sapientkind have spent almost a century at war with themselves. They need someone to prevent them from destroying themselves, and Dalong will have to do that."

Vermillion Bird/Daimon (his entry here) is an ancient warlock who became a member of the Board of Dalong in order to rule the world and guide sapientkind away from what he sees as a self-destructive path.
  • The Atoner: Having long since realized his actions were wrong, in modern day Vermillion Bird is trying to atone for his actions by protecting and helping Dalong's creations, the Dracosaurs, which he overlooked when Dr. Guiding Spring told him of their sapience.
  • Bargain with Heaven: He gets his Warlock powers back after making a pact with Sunny Field, an Archangel, and thus changing from a Fiend Warlock to a Celestial Warlock.
  • Brought Down to Badass: He lost his Warlock powers when Abaddon was killed, but is still quite the fighter.
  • Deal with the Devil: He made a deal with Abaddon for immortality and power in exchange for acting as his herald. After Abaddon was sealed away, he kept the powers but Abaddon was no longer able to call the shots on him. The deal was invalidated when Abaddon was destroyed.
  • Depower: His deal with Abaddon was broken when the demon god was destroyed, causing him to lose his Warlock powers. He regains them by making a deal with Sunny Field to become a Celestial Warlock.
  • Discard and Draw: He lost his Fiend Warlock powers when Abaddon was destroyed, and becomes a Celestial Warlock after making a new pact with Sunny Field. This causes him to lose the demonic powers, such as throwing an enemy through a Hell Realm, but gain angelic ones like healing. He genuinely prefers the new ones.
  • Heel Realization: By the Fourth Age, the destruction of Abaddon, having seen what the Dracosaurs and dragons created in Angel Vale, and other factors caused Vermillion Bird to realize that his worldview was wrong and make a Heel–Face Turn.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: While realising his worldview as a whole was wrong is bad enough by itself for Vermilion Bird, he was especially aghast when he realised that 'The Angel' (aka Dr. Guiding Spring) was correct and the Dracosaurs were self-aware, meaning he played a hoof in enslaving an entire sapient species for corporate greed.
  • Slavery Is a Special Kind of Evil: He deeply regret ignoring Dr. Guiding Spring's warnings/concerns and helping Dalong enslave the Dracosaurs.

    Still Well
"As you can see, we can clean up our own shit."

Still Well (introduced in this drabble) is a calculating, sociopathic member of the Board well-known for maintaining his cool confidence and calm composure even in the face of extreme threats and crises, which had enabled him to help plan the company's quest for world domination as well as save it on more than one occasion when threatened with destruction.

  • Badass Normal: By all accounts a completely ordinary Ponylander, yet had stared down dangerous metabeings without flinching and saved the company from destruction several times, able to keep up with more powerful and menacing members of the Board with his calculating ruthlessness.
  • The Dreaded: He is so utterly unflappable and ruthless that despite being an ordinary Pony he impressed/intimidated even dangerous metabeings.
  • Expy: Of Vaught-American executive James Stillwell from "The Boys" comic series.
  • Lack of Empathy: Noted to be utterly ruthless and so composed even in times of extreme stress it is rumoured that he is a sociopath, and practically treated like one by most others. To note, he ordered the purge of one of their company's corporate 'superhero' team without hesitation when one of their members screwed up.
  • Meaningful Name: A well of still water reflects his nearly unperturbable character very well.
  • Nerves of Steel: Noted to be utterly unflappable in demeanour and composure even in the face of danger or disaster. To note, he fearlessly faced down Archona - who had killed entire planets and civilizations back when she was a ruthless alien conqueror - when the Last Archonian threatened to destroy the entire company over a deeply-personal transgression by one of its members and managed to negotiate a deal which saved their hides. Even the normally haughty Archona was impressed.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Noted to be pragmatic, meaning while willing to commit evil without remorse would not do unnecessary self-destructive immoral things for its own sake, just like his inspiration.
  • The Sociopath: Is rumoured to be one.
  • Uncertain Doom: Still Well was an utterly normal mortal Pony, meaning he would not have long for this world. Accounts suggested he either passed on or was killed when Dragon Queen Tiamat destroyed Dalong SynTech.

    Auspicious Grace
Auspicious Grace (first introduced here) is the former CEO of Kounnami who became a particularly vile member of the Board.
  • Bad Boss: Auspicious Grace and his family are known for running Kounnami like a totalitarian dictatorship. They were so horrible to their employees that many of them — including Heroic Island, who later found success as a god and a CEO of an independent video-game company — were left with deep mental and emotional scars long after Kounnami fell as a company. When Auspicious Grace died of old age, he went completely unmourned.
  • Hated by All: Once his extremely horrific treatment of his employees (among other crimes) gets out, both he and Kounnami enter a fall from grace so bad that Kounnami itself essentially ceased to exist as a company. Even Heroic Island, an All-Loving Hero who believes all sapients want to have friends, hated him to the point where he released a very polite yet incredibly damaging "The Reason You Suck" Speech against his ex-boss, further contributing to his fall. After he died from old age, no one shed a tear, only complaining that he didn't live long enough to experience Queen Tiamat's Roaring Rampage of Revenge.
  • Karma Houdini: Subverted; while he dies of old age before Queen Tiamat's divine sanction against Dalong SynTech takes place, it's implied that he was Dragged Off to Hell for his crimes in life, given that Hell exists in the Codexverse to torment unrepentant sinners.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Of Kagemasa Kozuki, founder of Konami, who is notorious for his and his family's borderline-tyrannical management style of their company and vindictive character to their own employees.
  • Take That!: Both he and his company are a huge one to Konami, and many of their crimes are things Konami has actually been alleged to have done and he ends up part of an evil MegaCorp after his company goes bankrupt. It's noted he's considered more evil than many of the actual supervillains on the Board due to his tyrannical and vindictive behavior.
  • Token Evil Teammate: In contrast to his peers and fellow Board members, who often have sympathetic and/or logical motivations for joining the company, he stands out for his tyrannical methods and sheer vindictive pettiness. One of his former employees, Heroic Island, admits to not being surprised by this at all due to having personally suffered under him while working for Kounnami, something that sends Sherlock into an enraged rant.

    Foremost Ruler
Foremost Ruler was a member of the Board and the overseer of the Dracosaurs' creation, as well as the Angel's nemesis in her quest to free them.
  • Arch-Enemy: He's the Angel's archenemy, as his actions in keeping the Dracosaurs enslaved were what she had to overcome to free them.
  • Big Bad: He was the member of the Board the Angel and her creations had to struggle against to escape.
