Voiced by: Yuichi Nakamura (Japanese), David Matranga (English)
  • Dark Is Not Evil: He's wears darkly colored suits for the most part, something he lampshades by mentioning his wife always buys him brighter clothing, but he's on the side of the law.
  • Experienced Protagonist: Been a public prosecutor prior to the start of the series.
  • Family Man: His home life is shown to be rather pleasant, having a loving wife and son who he quite clearly cares for.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: After seeing all the cruelty she inflicts, Zen joined the FBI in hopes of getting a gun so he can kill Magase himself.
  • Trauma Conga Line: His pursuit of Magase and her employer has led to him finding his partner hang himself, getting nearly Mind Raped, his whole team committing suicide, having to watch his next partner get all her limbs cut off while she's still alive before getting decapitated, having to helplessly watch multiple people adopt the suicide law he was fighting against, witnessing a little girl kill herself through Magase's indirect influence, and being forced to assassinate the President of the United States, a man he clearly respected, after he's nearly manipulated by Magase into killing himself and has to be put down before he can be used to advocate the Suicide Law, essentially turning him into a criminal.

  • The Dog Was the Mastermind: Is one of the culprits who backed the creation of Nyux.
  • The Man Behind the Man: Responsible for hiring Ai to get rid of anyone who doesn't agree with his views.
  • Hypocrite: He preaches about how his "Suicide Law" is for the purpose of giving people the freedom to choose death, but the reason his ideology has spread so much was because he hired Ai Magase to use her Living Aphrodisiac quality to either convince people to follow him or have them kill themselves if they're in the way, giving them no real say in the matter.
  • Walking Spoiler: It would be hard to mention Itsuki without saying his involement in drafting and championing a pro-suicide law.

  • Mercy Kill: Asks Zen to kill him before he succumbs to Magase's manipulations and kills himself.
  • Nice Guy
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Fitting with his nickname of "The Thinker", he wears a pair of glasses.

Ai Magase

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aimagase.jpg
Voiced by: Satsuki Yukino (Japanese), Maggie Flecknoe (English)
  • Big Bad: Obviously.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: Ai Magase is pure evil and is proud of it.
  • Faux Affably Evil: She speaks in a calm, polite and kind tone even when she commits horrendous crimes.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: Her Living Aphrodisiac abilities are shown to also affect women.
  • Hate Sink: She's definitely a bitch who toys with the people for her own gain.
  • Hero Killer: Responsible for killing Sekuro after using an axe to cut her apart.
  • Kick the Dog: Instead of simply talking Sekuro into killing herself like she did the rest of Zen's team, she instead opts to kidnap her, tie her to a table, and cut off all her limbs and her head while she's still alive, recording the whole thing to send to Zen for seemingly no reason other than sadism and just to fuck with him.
  • Living Aphrodisiac: Ai Magase practically breathes sex-appeal with her existence alone, to the point where people get aroused just by noticing her existence directly. Both men and women alike.
  • Master of Disguise: She is an expert in using hair-styling, make-up, and clothes, as well as slightly shifting her body language to make herself appear like several different persons. Even people who know her have a very hard time seeing through her disguises.
  • Meaningful Name: "Ai" means "love", and the kanji used to spell "Magase" can be translated "pleasure world". True to her name, she's a Living Aphrodisiac.
  • Mind Rape: How Magase's victims describe the impact she makes upon them by merely talking to them once. An experience so traumatizing and shameful that it drove one of them into a self-imposed exile, turned seven high school boys into nervous wrecks, and the rest to even greater lengths to escape that feeling brought from her.
  • Serial Killer: While she rarely dirties her own hands, she has talked multiple individuals into killing themselves for the sake of Itsuki's conspiracy and her own amusement. The only kill she did herself was Sekuro.
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: Beneath her kind, gentle voice, Ai Magase is a monster.
  • Slasher Smile: As noted below, this is the only real way to tell it's her.
  • The Tell: The only way to tell Ai Magase apart from her disguise, is whenever she makes her unique "innocently wicked" smile.
