Characters / AMC Squad Allied Military Complex

Go To

The Allied Military Complex, or "AMC", is a paramilitary organization made to handle extraordinary threats to Earth and humankind. It is an offshoot of the Earth Defense Force, founded by one of their leaders, General Alejandro, and led by one of their top agents, James Stanfield. The Allied Military Complex functions as a special operations force, made to undertake contracts that the EDF and its allies could not risk to take, and with a more proactive stance. The Complex was founded in response to growing threats from various factions, such as alien empires, cults hiding in the darkest corners of the system, and the supernatural. While this would technically fall under the EDF's responsibility, the vast dangers that come from these threats means that a more precise and much quicker response that many feel the EDF could not muster in time. Thus, the Complex is designed with this notion in mind.

Currently, the Allied Military Complex consists of multiple parts: the AMC Squad, an elite cadre of special agents; the AMC Reserve; the rank-and-file agents which serve to guard areas owned or occupied by their allies; and the AMC Base, the Complex's headquarters, located in the independent city-state of Garmid.

    In General
  • Absent-Minded Professor: The Complex's science team aren't exactly that good with common sense; many of their idle chatter lines indicate that they're prone to accidents while conducting experiments, and in at least one case while visiting the base, one scientist has a habit of using the Shrinker on himself for... reasons.
  • Elite Army: The AMC's reserve of agents who provide support for the Squad aren't pushovers; they're more than capable of defending themselves and areas from enemy forces. If that wasn't enough, you can upgrade them to have sturdier armor, laser rifles, and the ability to teleport to you if they get lost!
  • Professor Guinea Pig: The science team often have this habit of using experimental or alien devices on themselves. In at least one case, a researcher recounts a time where he used the MIA Gun on a Cycloid test subject, only to find the subject reappear in his bathroom.

    The AMC Squad
The AMC Squad is the Complex's primary force and consists of special agents from different sectors of Earth, Mars, and other areas of the galaxy. These agents are the main playable characters of the game, and are the ones who take on missions set out by other contractors.

    Minerva

Voiced by: AliCatGamer

A sorceress who James met prior to the events of AMC Squad, Minerva originally worked for a company called Tartarus as a researcher. Despite her position in the company, Minerva covertly assisted James in his mission to sabotage a Tartarus-owned research facility in Siberia. Afterward, she taught James about the paranormal world and gave him the location of Sang. She has stuck to James' side ever since, and the two still maintain contact with each other.

  • Combat Medic: She can provide James with healing spells, should he be dangerously low on health. Her healing magic makes the fight against PATCOS in Knight's Fall much less stressful, as the arena is tight on ammunition and the has already fought a tough boss beforehand.
  • Regenerating Health: She can regenerate her HP, should she get injured. However, she has to be out of combat in order for her HP regen to kick in.
  • Solitary Sorceress: Implied somewhat in her phone calls with James, in that she doesn't mention hanging with other people outside of maybe Caer Dore.
  • Squishy Wizard: She doesn't pack any physical protection when tagging along with James; however, she makes up for it with her protective wards, and she has a fairly high amount of HP.
  • Support Party Member: She acts as this when she tags along with James to Darrow Lake, providing him with healing spells and, in dark areas, beacons of light to clear a path.

The quartermaster of the Allied Military Complex, he is stationed at the AMC Base's armory where he offers upgrades to the agents' weapons in exchange for Polymers.

  • Adam Smith Hates Your Guts: His upgrades are pretty expensive (even the most basic upgrades cost 100 Polymers), and should the player attempt to purchase an upgrade without the required number of Polymers, he'll snark at their predicament.
Dan: "This isn't a charity!"
  • Deadpan Snarker: He trades a fair amount of snark should the player attempt to purchase weapon upgrades without Polymers.
Dan: "I'll fetch you the dollar menu."
Dan: "Poverty alarm!"
  • Equipment Upgrade: His stock in trade is to upgrade the players' weapons. At first, he doesn't share a lot of upgrades; however, should the player rescue Liz, he'll offer more to compensate, courtesy of her abilities.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: He can upgrade all sorts of weapons, from medieval blunderbusses to modern firearms to large materia-powered guns. No wonder he's assigned the position of quartermaster.
  • Grin of Audacity: He's never seen without that toothy smirk of his.
  • Shout-Out: Tends to quote a famous merchant from time to time when the player checks out his upgrade menu.
  • Southern-Fried Genius: He speaks in a noticeable Appalachian drawl and is the guy you go to upgrade your weapons.

  • Busman's Holiday: Her vacation wasn't like this at first, but after she got kidnapped by the Triads and the Yakuza, she's stuck working on random things on the oil rig, much to her consternation.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: She shares Dan's role in offering upgrades to the agents' weapons.
  • Wrench Wench: Her day job, which she puts to good use once she's rescued from the oil rig.

The Leader of a Ninja clan and the proprietor of a dojo hidden in Japan. Offers the AMC Squad some secret abilities should they manage to defeat her subordinates.

  • Ninja: She leads a clan of them, who defend her dojo from intruders, and offers the AMC Squad secret moves should they meet her at the top floor of the dojo.
  • Parrying Bullets: One ability she offers is Advanced Sword Techniques, which allows agents to deflect bullets with a katana provided they face the attacker's direction.
  • Secret Art: Offers the AMC Squad some of her clan's abilities once they complete the mission "Hidden Dojo."
  • Unnecessary Combat Roll: One ability she offers is the Ninja Roll, which allows agents to perform a combat roll after falling a fair distance by pressing the Crouch key. It negates Falling Damage should the player successfully perform one, but care must be exercised when near edges or the player will fall off those platforms again.
