(Rika groans, starting to feel rather woozy)
Tranza: Are you all right, Arcadiarika?
Rika: Call me "Rika". And...I only drank. So the answer's "no". I don't even think I even had anything to eat since I've been here.
Tranza: Would you care for a Power Herb?
(Rika laughs, and...)
Rika: That bitter shit? Hell no.
(desperate, she finds some paper, the old pages of the fanfic, and she begins to eat it)
Tranza: What are you doing?
Rika: I'd rather eat this than whatever you guys have!
Tranza: ...
(he presses a button, and a Grinam butler gives Rika a steak, of the finest type)
I assure you, it's not spiked with anything dangerous or hatred-inducing.
Rika: If you're sure...(she eats, and a wave of good vibes wash over her) That's—this is fantastic!
Tranza: The more we read the fanfic, the more I pitied you. I don't know what keeps you from going into deep despair, but...
Rika: I keep telling myself that I can never be broken. I mean...I've read worse stuff before, Tranza.
Tranza: If you want to take a break, you can.
<I don't know what Radiguet is even thinking anymore...>
Rika: No. I gotta stay strong. I gotta get through this!
(she pours some sake in a wineglass)
Previously, we reached the end of the Bioman arc. Mikoto was freed from his "brainwashing". That's about it.
(she sips)
So we continue on with...
(click!)
Chapter 19: The New Killer Arrives
(and cue the fanciest theme as the installment begins)
We begin with Mikoto conversing with the others about what the U.A.O.E fortress is like. It's...a fucking dome city. And the force fields are unbreakable.
(Rika is unimpressed)
Eh, I'm sure they'll use a Deus Ex Cole and break the fortress with POWAR, UNLIMITED POWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!!1
Aya has Bulk and Skull to lead Mikoto to his room...and Skull's warned about Spike, that he needs to behave, otherwise...
Oh, God.
Otherwise, for hitting on Kaoru, he'll be next in the gravel-pounding list long before poor Eri and Natsuki finish theirs.
Disproportionate Retribution much?!
(Rika drinks from the wineglass)
Bulk, Skull, and Spike talk more about irrelevant shit. Okay, not so irrelevant.
- Bulk: "One can train you to be a samurai, the other will send you to adventures!"
...I remember Bulk trying to train Spike to be a samurai. The hell happened to that?
And yes, Spike's still thinking about Kaoru. You know, I thought Spike's one of the more wasted opportunities of Samurai. What's happened to him?
(Rika continues to eat)
(on the road, the group travels)
Ryota: So how about a story to pass the time?
Brittany: Depends!
Matoi: ...how about if we share the story to our friends? The one we read before we set out to saving Rika?
Sean (completely aghast): And put them through the same torture?!
Rin: I'm with him...why would you do that?
Matoi: Calm down...(he places a reassuring hand on Sean's shoulder) It's only for one chapter.
Natsuki: Besides, I'm sure it can't be that bad!
(everyone but Tori, Xander, and Saya stare in horror)
Sean: <You asked for it...>
I think I'll volunteer to read the story. Because...I don't think anyone wants to hear me screaming again.
Mao: Yeah, let's not. (she sweatdrops)
Saya: I haven't heard of fanfictions before, but let's give it a shot!
(Sean flips through on a random tablet, and goes to...Chapter 20)
Sean: ...let's get started.
(he reads the story in the most dramatic voice possible, using different accents, tones, and the like, with the hopes of making it...not as sucky. And yes, he invokes group participation, with Mako and a few of the others playing other parts)
(but while the group has a blast with the craziest Dramatic Reading possible, we cut back to Rika, finished with her meal)
Rika: Now that I feel refreshed...
After a scene with Tommy and Kimberly talking and Ryu's kids messing around with Gai's kid, we see Takeru training with Cole. During that time, with Sakura showing up and saying that breakfast will be ready, Cole punches Takeru so hard and fast, it sent him flying.
No. Seriously.
Takeru teases that Cole's love for Sakura caused his punch to be so strong...when she came in. That just makes no sense. Cole admits that it may have, and he really loves her.
Oh, and he wonders if he said all that. Oh, Cole. Of course you did. In fact, it actually made Sakura stop and think about her feelings for Satoru. About how it's not meant to be and shit.
And as she thinks, Cole is told that he's so nice and all. Sakura leaves, which has him wonder what's going on. Yes, Houka's still crushing over him.
And speaking of "being tender to women" and shit, I'd like to point out a rebuttal, made by one Rick Medina. Once again, Akizuki, are we sure Cole's true hero/Aka Red material?
Tranza: ...what.
Rika: I know, right? (she shakes her head in disgust)
We get another scene of Jasmine...oh, God. Jasmine never shutting the fuck up about how Sakura and Cole are tru wuv material.
- Jasmine: "Cole has admitted he likes you very much quite openly didn't he? I suggest it's best you drop your feelings for Satoru entirely or all your physically beauty will go to waste much later. That guy's always acting oblivious towards you compared to Cole. Aside from being a very handsome and muscular guy, he's got great amounts of inner beauty that his appearance can't match. Sakura, only if you can understand how Cole truly feels towards you."
Gah, lady. JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP! God, she's so annoying! Is that seriously all she ever talks about?! I mean...what about her hobbies? Adventures as Deka Yellow? Shit like that?!
(Rika drinks quite a bit)
Sakura tells her that she's willing to be Cole's friend, but of course she argues with her. I have no idea why I'm liveblogging this.
(she checks the next scene) Aw, come on, more pointless filler?!
To sum up the stupid short, there's a modelling scene (yes, a fucking modelling scene!), and Jasmine is still pairing up people. This time, it's Tommy and Kimberly. At this point, I just think that Jasmine is Akizuki's mouthpiece for pairings. And yes, it is annoying as hell. Also, a scene with Sakura and Satoru. I DON'T CARE.
Ah, finally we have something. Mako tends to Takeru, and this is said.
- "Although (Mako) can be a bad cook but it doesn't mean she can't do simple kitchen tasks."
And you thought Power Rangers Samurai is sexist. This just...this fanfic is just...gah.
Takeru reveals that he has a vision. This time, one of their old foes will return. Who is it? Akumaro. Also, more couple stuff on the side.
(Rika facepalms)
We finally get to something that isn't lovey-dovey shit—specifically, the U.A.O.E. RINO thinks of getting a replacement Killer, and who better than Akumaro? Because...Complete Monsters seem to be all the rage, right?
RINO tells Akumaro that he can join, or he'll suffer. He proves it by...drying the Sanzu River. You have got to be kidding me. Just...I haven't watched Jetman or anything, but how in the hell did he get that power? By pulling it out of his ass?
Akumaro agrees, and a new structure is created. Tranza's the top dog (yeah, because that worked so well the last time), Pope Hat, Trakeena, Long, Ryuuwon, and Buredoran are in charge of politics...(Rika double-facepalms)...Yaiba, Shizuka, and the Questers are in charge of the military. Apparentally, Akumaro's the top dog in the military, and Tao Zanto is the second-in-command. I have no fucking idea, either.
Oh, and Gekkou's still in a cage, and Flurious will always be a house slave. Because...I have no idea on that, either.
Later, Cole and Takeru train once more, this time in swordfighting. As they fight, Akumaro crashes the party.
...aaaaaand he seriously says "hee hee hee". Protip: having a villain or any cool character go "hee hee" automatically loses all their coolness/chance to take them seriously.
Akumaro and Takeru fight for a bit, and then the former tells Cole to transform into Red Conqueror. He does, and he transforms into Go-on Red, Gao Red, and Deka Red in short order to beat the Mooks. But then, the Sakamatas breathe fireballs at them, forcing Cole to demorph and use the Sword of Justice to defend himself.
...oh, and he has the power to summon any Red Sentai Warriors of his choice. Seriously. And who does he summon? Geki Red and Abare Red. Yeah...
So Abare Red and Geki Red weaken the mooks, and the rest of the Shinkengers show up. After morphing, they all defeat the Sakamatas, leaving Akumaro alone. But it's shown that he's a lot faster than usual...and...oh, God. Cole decides to step in. Will he curb-stomp Akumaro to oblivion?
Don't count on it.
To make a long story short, the kirigami show up, and Kaoru and Takeru team up to defeat them. Cole's confused as to why Kaoru's called "mother", but he decides to beat Akumaro, to the dismay of everyone else. And how does that end?
...Cole realizes that Akumaro has no heart. And we're beaten over the heads of the moral that "brains are stronger than brawns". (Rika groans, and she drinks)
- Take a shot every single time the "brains are stronger/just as strong as brawns" moral is beaten over the head again and again and again and again.
Then Akumaro has help from the Questers, and together, they defeat Cole. But Takeru and Kaoru get into their alternate forms, Takeru's Hyper mode and Kaoru's Super mode. Together, they attack the enemies, and Kaoru tries to finish the villains off. Naturally, the enemies aren't destroyed.
WHAT A TWEEST!
After the villains are chased off, the Shinkengers, Jan, and Ryouga try to help Cole. After talking, Cole falls unconscious. Yeah...
Oh, and what happens in the U.A.O.E? RINO doesn't throw a bitchfit this time! No, instead, he celebrates that temporary victory. He is happy for the fact that Akumaro showed the group's weaknesses.
Don't expect it to last.
In the New Skybase, Cole's all bandaged up, and we find out about why Takeru calls Kaoru "mother". She "adopted" him...and, apparentally, the adoption paper was voided by the government.
(Rika shrugs)
And yes...we get more lovey-dovey shit between Takeru and Mako. And later, Sakura and Cole. Specifically, Cole proposes to her, but Sakura turns him down. This crushes him, makes him figure out what to do to win her over.
(Rika then grows sick)
Can we please can it with the lovey-dovey shit? Please?
Tranza: You can always skip over them...
Rika: True.
Also, Houka becomes a creepy stalker, trying to win over Cole herself. Of course, he turns her down, which makes her angry. I'm sorry, but...is it me, or is she becoming flanderized into a lovesick freak?
The chapter ends, first, with Aka Red speaking to Cole, once he's all alone. Um...(she scratches her head) The mysterious being decides to help his ally win Sakura's heart, and Cole hopes that it won't be as drastic.
...after that, we get a scene with Trini trying to relax. She's hoping to go onto more missions soon. And we close with more Ship Teasing between Mako and Takeru, them denying it, blah blah blah...
You know what, fuck this. I need a fucking drink.
(and so, Rika manages to drink quite a lot...)
(in the main room of the base, Radiguet stands with six monsters, Akire being one of them)
Radiguet: We wait until the heroes grow closer. We'll spring a trap, capture six of them. What I have planned...it will break them.
For now, I'll make them think this mission is easy. Send some foes along the way...
Akire: Bawss, are yeh really sure about this?
Radiguet: Akire, I am positive. (he smirks) The darkest day will come.
What does Radiguet mean by all this? Will Rika make it out alive...or not as plastered? And what obstacles will the All-Stars face?
