* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: Overlapping with ''WebVideo/YogscastMinecraftSeries'', the Yogscast has received quite a few complaints about how the channel is not family-friendly, with profanity being the most common complaint. This overlaps with CriticalResearchFailure, since almost nobody in the group aims to in the first place. The only real exception would be Zoey, plus Kim and Martyn to an extent, as well as the Conquest channel, which was partially made so they could have a strictly family-friendly channel.

** Fans of WebVideo/TheCynicalBrit and the Yogs also get along quite well, although [[Machinima/YogscastMinecraftSeries their Minecraft series]] is a slightly different matter and TB has fallen out with Simon, making this a sort of halfway case[[note]]many are still fans, and if anything the Yognaughts and fans of TB united in condemnation of Simon's behaviour[[/note]].

** Arguably the ''Minecraft'' shows, by way of a more interconnected plot with [[LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters increasing amounts of perspectives]] after the end of the Tekkit shows, making it incredibly hard to follow a plot.

** Creator/AdamSandler, ever since the ''Film/{{Pixels}}'' fiasco in which Happy Madison Productions made targeted advertising for the group's fans without permission (or even [[YouMakeMeSic getting their name right]]).

** The resignations of Sjin and Turps, contrasting the firing of Caff which went down without a fuss, caused the subreddit to go into what might as well be called civil war for a few weeks.

** Community manager Mark Hulmes hasn't even appeared in any videos, but is liked even by detractors for being friendly, informative, and having a good sense of humour on /r/Yogscast. He's also earned some love for his work in ''High Rollers''.

* OvershadowedByControversy: Suffice it to say that discussion of Caff, Turps and Sjin (all of whom left the network in Summer 2019 has gotten so heated that the Yogscast subreddit has outright banned any further threads about them. In the case of Caff, it has completely overshadowed anything else he was involved in.

* DudeNotFunny!: There has been moments where a small party of the cast to the entire company gets into some really poor wordplay or act like complete assholes [[PsychopathicManchild]] during streams or recording, as much as Lewis and Rythian do their best to hold back law-suites, the social comments from their fans do hold justifiable reason to have the company reinforce the HR department.

** LetsPlay/{{Turpster}} is an odd case. His own channel, with behind the scenes content of the Yogscast, is relatively popular, but on other channels he quickly comes a divisive figure. This is in part because of his tendency to shout a lot when panicked, his breaking the rules for games such as ''VideoGame/GarrysMod'' on a semi-regular basis and his being on a few channels semi-regularly, such as with Hat Films, Sips and so on. [[Administrivia/RuleOfCautiousEditingJudgement His leaving in July 2019 was similarly tense for reasons that won't be discussed here]].

** The fan-run Tumblr blog [=ProblematicYogscast=] has been a source of contention by fans of all stripes and even some of the Yogscast itself. [[Administrivia/RuleOfCautiousEditingJudgment All issues related exclusively to Sjin have been moved to his own YMMV page, whereas others are listed below.]]

Ridge is also blamed for the most disastrous charity livestream of 2014, in which he got so drunk that he fell asleep an hour in and left Bebop to try and (unsuccessfully) get things back on track; the result was a livestream in which only $3,000 was raised. When he left very few Yognaughts seemed to miss him.

* MagnificentBastard:
** Sips and Lewis towards the end of the second playthrough of ''Civilization 5: Brave New World''. The former pays a weaker adversary to turn on Rythian, ensuring that the weaker adversary will be wiped out after doing as much damage to Rythian as possible, and the latter eventually invests his time in enough technology to curbstomp everybody in the world.
** Sips and Lewis manage to pull this trope off again in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iK7azGOG-VQ&list=UUH-_hzb2ILSCo9ftVSnrCIQ this episode]] of ''VideoGame/TroubleInTerroristTown'', with Sips misleading LetsPlay/HatFilms into trusting him and waiting for Lewis to attack. When they come under fire, Sips finishes off his teammates, winning the traitors the round.

* FandomRivalry:
** While WebVideo/GameChap and the Yogscast used to get on really well, the former insulting the Yogscast and their fans on Reddit was enough to get them kicked out. Since then, mention one of them on the other's forum and you'll be met with scorn (or, in the case of the former, a ban).
** [[WebVideo/TheCynicalBrit Total Biscuit]] has criticized them a few times, which does lead to some disagreements between the fandoms, although they still generally get along. Plenty of fans still like both and have said that seeing them argue is like watching their parents have a fight. Fans of Simon and TB are particularly vitriolic, in part due to Simon's downright rude behaviour towards TB, though it still hasn't stopped overlap.
** A VocalMinority of Area 11 fans dislike the Yogscast and hope that the band can distance itself from the group now.
** Fans of the Yogscast do ''not'' like fans of ''Film/{{Pixels}}'' due to the advertising for the film, which attempted to mention them in a bid for people to see the movie without including the group, paying them or even ''pronouncing their name properly''. High profile members of the group such as Simon, Ross of Hat Films, [[http://justayogblog.tumblr.com/post/126098142596/hello-yogcast Zoey, Kim and Martyn]], as well as Angor and Teutron, have all slammed the film (plus Creator/AdamSandler specifically) for [[https://twitter.com/SimonHoneydew/status/629313597114552320 what they view as]] [[https://twitter.com/Teutronz/status/629611007061684224 poor effort]], as well as [[https://twitter.com/djh3max/status/629641386556555264 shady conduct and poor behaviour]] at best.
** An inter-fandom one between fans of the main subreddit and the subreddit [=RantYogscast=] (and by proxy Tumblr blog [=YogPetShame=]). ** The main channel received some complaints in 2015 that the lesser-known Yogscast members, or "Underyogs", were being neglected and that collaborations featured too much of Sjin, Duncan and Hat Films (the complaints were less about the people per say and more about them getting too much publicity), particularly after Simon fell ill. Later collaborations have since featured a mix of people such as Rythian, Zoey, Zylus and Martyn, as well as Kim, Turps and Hannah.

** Whenever LetsPlay/KimRichards gets to costar in any series, the comment section will inevitably devolve into an argument between those that don't want her to collaborate (in no small part because of irrational hatred and double standards on the hatedom's behalf) and those that do. That isn't even getting into the more racist Yognaughts.

** The main channel received some complaints that the lesser-known Yogscast members, or "Underyogs", were being neglected and that collaborations featured too much of Sjin, Duncan and Hat Films (the complaints were less about the people per say and more about them getting too much publicity), particularly after Simon fell ill. Later collaborations have since featured a mix of people such as Rythian, Zoey, Zylus and Martyn, as well as Kim, Turps and Hannah.

** Any change in the lineup for ''VideoGame/GarrysMod'' has been extremely controversial, although for some bizarre reason LetsPlay/InTheLittleWood's involvement became a particular point of contention, creating a divide on many levels. Some fans like him and don't mind that he's in, others like him but wish that LetsPlay/{{Sips}} took his place. Then there's his skill- having someone new is amusing, refreshing or frustrating, particularly when he fails to notice the murderer sneaking past him and gets everyone shanked.

** Simon is starting to become this, for a number of reasons explained below:
*** While many still find him funny when he shouts and panics in an over-the-top manner, others feel that his style of humour is getting old and isn't as good or intelligent/inspired as it used to be. While this is something that one group of viewers are willing to tolerate in small doses, others find it grating. He's notably calmer after returning from hiatus, easing the divide.
*** While there are plenty of fans that still like him, particularly due to his advocating LGBT causes and campaigning for the disenfranchised for his conduct online and behaviour has earned a fair degree of flak, particularly his flipping out at [[Creator/TheCynicalBrit TotalBiscuit]] and calling him a "crying pissbabby" [sic], then rudely insulting the Yogscast subreddit when called out on it. Some opted to watch and forgive him, others chose to unsubscribe from his Twitter and the main channel ([[MisplacedRetribution plus others, such as Duncan, that had absolutely nothing to do with it]]- which is a sore point for many Yognaughts since they don't want the network to be associated with his actions). He was, however, RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap later, in no small part because he was suffering from intense depression at the time which caused people to do a 180.
*** His absence due to illness has caused a similar divide; while fans unanimously want him to get better, others are worried his eventual return will cause the varied content on the main channel to drop. A few are even convinced that his absence isn't due to recovery and that he has quit, leading to further arguments and yet another round of conspiracy theories, which have all been debunked by his recording more ''Derpulies'' material.

** For the first round of ''Gmod'' Pictionary, Trott and Smith choose to do ''[[Film/TheFastAndTheFurious Fast & Furious 7]]''. How do they choose to represent it? With UsefulNotes/BarackObama standing in for Creator/DwayneJohnson (nothing wrong with that so far) and [[spoiler:a depiction of Creator/PaulWalker's car crash death, complete with numerous explosions]]. Smith's reaction to the proposal is initially horrified, but he eventually goes along with it; by the end, ''everyone'' is audibly wincing.

** [[https://www.youtube.com/user/Linkthe1st Will]], [[LetsPlay/WilliamStrife page found here]], has also picked up a lot of fans in a very short space of time, owing to his competence at ''Minecraft'', decent tutorials that got to the point, and his awesomely deep voice. There are numerous requests for him to be on the main channel.

** Despite not actually being a video maker at the time of writing and working mostly as a producer, Tom aka "Angor" has a fair number of fans. This is due to his being a total badass at ''VideoGame/TroubleInTerroristTown'', being a deadpan guy and having a laid-back attitude. Taking the more divisive Ridge's place as the referee for "Lucky Walls" can't have hurt either.

*** One TB fan seems to have made it their purpose in life to harass Hannah, going after her for reblogging a Buffy post (wherein she was shown beating up people who had made sexist statements), then returning a month later to make accusations that she had manipulated game footage to hide evidence of bugs, that she was "an emotionally fragile girl in a woman's body" and then went on other blogs to encourage them to go after her and attack her. Kinda scary, when you think about it, that someone could be so obsessed with someone they've never met...

** In spite of members of both fandoms sniping back and forth at each other, fans of Creator/AchievementHunter and the Yogs mostly get along well, or at least enough to co-exist peacefully. Simon and Lewis both follow Creator/GavinFree, who follows Simon back, plus there's a good deal of fans who like both. The same goes for the parent company Creator/RoosterTeeth and Funhaus.

* FunnyAneurysmMoment: Lewis and Simon mock-fighting with [[Creator/TheCynicalBrit TotalBiscuit]] is a lot harder to watch now that TB has fallen out with both of them.

* LGBTFanbase: Despite some occasionally offensive content, the Yogscast have a notably large LGBT fandom. This particularly applies to Kim and Zoey; the former is but is incredibly supportive and outspoken against homophobia (and has identified as 'not straight'), the latter is a lesbian and very caring towards her fans.

** A lack of smaller Yogscast channels (in terms of main channel appearances) has been blamed on a whole mix of people for varying reasons, such as bigger content creators like Hat Films or Sips (even though, while being in some videos on there, they aren't involved in organising who takes part), Turps (even though his work as CEO doesn't really cover that) and Simon/Lewis (while both are the ''de facto'' owners of the main channel and do organise it to an extent, Simon does less of the admin work and Lewis can only work with who's available). It really simply depends on who is online and when they are available, particularly if they don't work in the main office.

** For some reason the ''Pixels'' debacle appears to have gone down in history as one of their greatest "errors", even though Turps and Hannah have explained ''at length'' how this isn't remotely their fault and attempted to explain the possibilities (e.g. the studio contacted them months before trailers were released).

* OneSceneWonder: Quite a few things happen every now and then, owing to the overlapping between channels. One of the funniest examples would have to be [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zS0U-XxA3as Sparkles* stumbling in for a livestream that he obviously wasn't intended to be in]], while ''completely drunk'', so much so that he has to be taken home after only one minute. One minute, and yet he managed to easily be one of the funniest things there- at least, before [[SerialEscalation everybody]] ''[[SerialEscalation else]]'' [[SerialEscalation got drunk]].

** Kim was a very divisive figure to begin with, but has since developed a loyal and devoted fanbase.

** The season of ''TTT'' that started in March 2015 has had a much more mixed reception when compared to the previous episodes. The more montage-style editing, the slightly off-the-walls humour, loud music (which drowned out the participants) and the presentation were mostly seen as unwelcome changes, and while fans agreed change was necessary it was more polarising. This was changed by Episode Three, which went for a more relaxed editing style that combined the best of both, toned down the more bizarre humour, quietened the music and gave the players a chance to shine.

** The 2015 livestream has seen an increase in the number of guest streamers, in part due to the changed format. This has mostly been well-received, but has unsurprisingly led to a small, but vocal, group of people saying "person X is from the Yogscast, I'm not interested". Hannah and community manager Mark have expressed their displeasure with this.

*** [[http://yogpetshame.tumblr.com/post/124107519718/reddit-mods-on-steven-goates There are now various allegations]] along the same lines against Ridgedog, again coming from [=ProblematicYogscast=] as well as [=YogPetShame=].

** Ridgedog is this among the Yogscast LGBT community due to his allegedly transphobic behaviour. Asking for fanart of him is not a wise idea. Since his departure, the official subreddit has since joined in with criticising him.
*** While he does still have some fans due to his bizarre humour, dressing up as himself for Minecon 2013, incredibly well-done builds and (former) status as GameMaster, the aforementioned transphobic behaviour has been criticised, as has his allegedly telling a trans individual to go and kill themselves when they mentioned they had suicidal thoughts. Ridge is also blamed for the most disastrous charity livestream of 2014, in which he got so drunk that he fell asleep an hour in and left Bebop to try and (unsuccessfully) get things back on track; the result was a livestream in which only $3,000 was raised. His somewhat aggressive demeanour online, delving into BlackComedyRape jokes and allegedly sexist attitude towards admins (which has led to allegations of blackmail and further abuse) have only fanned the flames, and when he left very few Yognaughts seemed to miss him. His post-Yogscast career has been notably lacking, with him drunkenly ranting against the Yogscast and saying he was the reason they were successful.

* HypocriticalFandom: Suffice it to say that many members of the group will get slammed for doing something, then another member will do it and be praised for doing ''the exact same thing''. Turps, Simon and Kim are most frequently victims of this.

* EarWorm:
** The opening to their older videos, such as their ''VideoGame/WorldOfWarcraft'' videos.
** Nilesy's outro song. ''This is my outro song, so that the vid doesn't end too suddenly...''

* InternetBackdraft:
** Someone reported the main channel for being under 13. [[WhatAnIdiot Somebody on YouTube immediately banned the channel]][[TooDumbToLive , wiping all two thousand videos]], causing this trope in SPADES.
** The whole Gamechap and Bertie argument also fell into this, though admittedly Gamechap fanning the flames by calling the users of their subreddit idiots wasn't a smart move.
** The fandom has been stupidly vocal in terms of how they think LetsPlay/InTheLittleWood replaced LetsPlay/{{Sips}} for ''VideoGame/GarrysMod'', irrationally spamming hate comments. Overlaps with CriticalResearchFailure, since there's no proof that he necessarily replaced Sips and fewer people complained that LetsPlay/HannahRutherford wasn't in it.
** Fans got particularly angry on many things during the first half of 2013 and irrationally spammed hate comments, eventually getting comments banned for two months- naturally, the forums had a field day with this. ** A fan's ridiculously petty, badly thought-through campaign to try and get Kim fired led to a further backdraft against Kim, followed by a much bigger counter-backdraft from supportive fans.
** Simon's [[Administrivia/RuleOfCautiousEditingJudgment rudely calling TotalBiscuit a "crying pissbabby"]] ''[sic]'' and then insulting the Yogscast subreddit when they called him out caused a shitstorm. Surprisingly, it wasn't just fans of TB that called Simon out, but also Yognaughts, leading to many unfollowing Simon on Twitter and unsubscribing from the main channel.
** The film ''Film/{{Pixels}}'' has caused one amongst Yognaughts, or rather its attempts at advertising have. To explain, the group were approached by the film producers to advertise the film, but Turps declined. In spite of this, the company, plus Adam Sandler, Josh Gad and Creator/MichelleMonaghan, proceeded to ''make the videos anyway'' to try and encourage Yognau(gh)ts[[note]]the FandomNickname for fans of the group[[/note]] to go and see it. The kicker? ''They didn't even bother to get the group's name right'', referring to them as the "Yogcast" (Michelle Monaghan at least got the FandomNickname right). To say that fans were unamused would be an understatement, and Turps, Simon, Ross, Harry, Angor and Teutron expressed their disapproval in the strongest terms. Even Mattophobia, who has a rocky relationship with most of the group apart from Sips and Martyn, found the move to be in poor taste.
** The blog [=YogPetShame=] [[http://lomadia.tumblr.com/post/134650158453/yogscats-yogpetshame-yogscats taking one of Hannah's tweets out of context in order to insult Lewis]] did not go over well.
** After Kim broke down on stream, the fandom went berserk due to the abuse she received. Comments agreeing with her trolls were downvoted en masse on threads about the issue.
** The April 15th Deckrippers stream led to a backdraft both against Sjin and against his detractors, with something of a war between the Tumblr Yognaughts and the official Yogscast subreddit. Several {{Big Name Fan}}s have refused to make Yogscast posts (with some exceptions made for the underyogs and Hat Films) until the issue is at least resolved, whereas the subreddit was critical of Minty and Teutron.

* FandomBerserkButton: Calling the group the ''Yog''cast as opposed to the ''Yogs''cast is a good way to be mocked mercilessly, as Adam Sandler found out the hard way.[[labelnote:Disclaimer]]In this case, while people understand typos or mistakes, Sandler was supposed to be targeting a specific audience and didn't even bother to check he was getting the name right.[[/labelnote]]

** Between ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}'' fans and fans of the Yogscast in general. Before the FanDumb part on the YMMV/YogscastMinecraftSeries page was removed, it made around a sixth of the article.

* FandomBerserkButton:
** Do ''not'' mention the Tumblr blog "[=YogPetShame=]" anywhere if you do not wish to be burned alive by the fandom.[[labelnote:Context]]Said blog is seen as having NoSenseOfHumour and being overtly pedantic to the point of pseudo-tabloid journalism, as well as a ThinkOfTheChildren mentality when the Yogs ''have never advertised primarily for that demographic'', and has received numerous complaints with people asking why the owner of said blog even bothers to keep up with the Yogscast any more, given all their gripes. * ReplacementScrappy: Inverted with Angor taking over the place of Ridgedog as GameMaster for various contests. Angor has become considerably less divisive and gained a sizeable fanbase, whereas Ridgedog was LoveItOrHateIt and was viewed as too trollish by some.
