Who turned out to be ''her.''

* SkunkStripe: Inverted--she has one red lock of hair in the middle of her forehead. It's all that remains of her original hair color after the reaction to the MARK III drug. After regaining human form from her Nova form, all her hair goes back to being red.

* MeaningfulName: On two fronts. Her first name, "Maria," was given by Gengo because she resembled a goddess (possibly meant as Mary). Her last name, "Lancelot," is possibly derived from Gengo first encountering her while rowing on a lake. [[KingArthur Lancelot]]'s full name was Lancelot "du Lac," or Lancelot "of the Lake."

* HeWhoFightsMonsters: Due to admittedly bad experiences during basic training, Arnett had a massive chip on her shoulder towards the much more affluent Pandora typically attending Genetics by the time she enrolled. She spent most of her early time there shunning, taunting, bullying, and attacking people much weaker than her not because they themselves had done anything wrong, but because of who their family happened to be. The girls she had a bad experience with during basic training? They shunned, bullied, and attacked one girl solely because of who her older sister was, and when Arnett tried to help her she ended up getting the same treatment.

In their first Carnival, Arnett slices off Attia's {{fing|ore}}ers and tries to behead her.
** During ''Freezing'' proper, Charles ''mauls'' Attia. Arnett, in turn, would harbor a massive grudge against Charles for this. The reason Charles attacked Attia so badly? Attia insulted Charles' father.

* LoneSurvivor: Played differently. She kills off Petty Liner, Jessica gets her head ripped off by a Nova, and Isabella is "rescued" by Raddox. Isuzu is captured by Suna and taken to a holding cell for questioning.

* LoneSurvivor: Of the four Busters who were sent to West Genetics to wreck havoc and kill Gengo Aoi, Petty is killed by Isuzu, Jessica succumbs to Nova corruption and is killed by a Nova ripping her head off, Isuzu is captured by Suna after trying and failing to get past the E-Pandora "failure" Amelia. Leaving Isabella the only one to escape and be "rescued" by Raddox Pantomime. She later returns with a full Chevailer army, fully intending to finish what she and her teammates started.

* ParentalSubstitute: The reason why she gives a MarshmallowHell to Kazuya (and tries to get him to breast-feed) when they first meet again is because she took care of him till he was two years old and still thinks of him as a child--more specifically, ''her'' child. This becomes more literal when it's revealed that Kazuya's mother Orie barely survived giving birth to Kazuha and wouldn't have been able to give birth to Kazuya; Gengo transferred Kazyua's embryo to Cassandra so that Kazuya could be properly carried to term.
** Her role as this, given that it occurred while his real mother Orei was very much around, is large factor behind the destruction of the Aoi family.
* RapeAsDrama: She was raped by a grief-stricken and maddened [[spoiler:Ryuuichi Aoi]] in a misguided attempt at retaliation for the tragic events that befell his family after she arrived. For reasons known only to herself, she made no effort to resist him, despite being perfectly capable of it. [[spoiler:This results in the birth of Arcadia Aoi.]]

* CreepyChild: Her own mother Orie thought as much, and blames Kazuha's behavior on Gengo's influence. Granted, five year-old children are NOT supposed to casually leap 20 feet into the air and be as detached as she was either. This turns out to be a major problem later, as it estranges the two of them badly and indirectly leads to Orie's eath.

* BrokenAce: Is considered the highest authority and greatest expert in the world on matters of Pandora and the Nova. Despite that, his life has been full of its share of misery: the woman he loves is alive but out of his reach, and he has lost his son, his daughter-in-law, one of his "daughters", and one of his grandchildren because of the Pandora system that he created; on top of that, one of his other "daughters" was sexually assaulted due to his actions, and Kazuya hates him. This doesn't even account for the countless manipulations and schemes he's pulled off, and while Gengo knows that everything he does will have horrible consequences for everyone--himself included--he feels that the future of mankind must be secured, no matter who gets hurt in the process.

* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: His position as fighting against the E-Pandora project--and being put in charge when said project not only fails but creates two Novas--shows he is one such person. Additionally, despite his reputation, he at least makes an attempt to be approachable, though when people try to interfere with his plans, he either accounts for them or makes their meddling a non-issue.

* RealityEnsues: After being immersed in a place with a foreign language for days, he begins picking up bits and pieces of the vocabulary. Enough that he and [[spoiler: Luis Ecla]] can occasionally have an awkward understanding of each other.

* BerserkButton:

* DaddysGirl: This is apparent as early as Charles' fight with Elizabeth, when her faith in her father spurs her to fight like a madman. Later on, Roxanne gets her to reveal the reason why she so adamantly defends her father's actions--despite knowing what happened to the E-Pandora was wrong, and despite Marks Spencer deserving his comeuppance for doing some admittedly [[KickTheDog horrible things]], Charles hates how he willingly acted as a {{Scapegoat}} for the government. In her eyes, [[HatedByAll everyone thinks he's a monster]] when any other member of the government would have done the same things he did if they'd been selected to oversee the project instead of him.

* {{Jerkass}}: She's calmly and openly condescending and hostile to everyone, even her own Limiter, and dismissive of the E-Pandora.
* JerkassHasAPoint: When Charles first meets Team 13, she points out that just recently some of its members were also part of the E-Pandora rebellion, and could have easily crippled the operations of the only organization which can effectively fight the Nova and gotten everyone killed. While Charles is clearly acting like an ass, all previous interactions proved to her that Team 13 are easily swayed by emotion, contrary to discipline that is required of soldiers fighting in a life or death situation. Team 13 gives no evidence that the next time a morally ambiguous situation arises that they will remain loyal to the Pandora cause, let alone defend Charles during battle. Charles for her part gives them the benefit of the doubt, but until proven otherwise is going to justifiably scrutinize their actions and attitudes.

* TheNapoleon: She hits all the points: temperamental, aggressive, and [[UnusualEuphemism vertically handicapped]]. She even gets pissed when [[TheGadfly Roxanne]] calls her "midget" or "halfling."

* VillainousBreakdown: Begins to cry very messily and rant in anger as she loses.

* BoringButPractical: Take a look at the top five Pandora: Chiffon isn't even fully human; Roxanne can heal from nearly anything almost instantly and has an experimental Volt Weapon that practically turns her into a human Franchise/{{Gundam}}; Julia can fire RazorWind shock waves without even needing to manifest a Volt Weapon; and Charles can create and control at least ten perfect clones of herself simultaneously. Cathy? She's just really, ''really'' fast.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: For a short time. Fortunately, she got better.

* FlashStep[=/=]SuperSpeed: They don't call her Godspeed for nothing. Not only is she one of the few characters who can use Triple Accel without an interval, ''her'' Triple Accel is more than twice as fast as a regular Pandora's. That's not even getting into her Quadruple Accel, which is so fast it breaks Mach 2 and is explicitly stated to be impossible to dodge, and she can go even faster than ''that'' and break Mach 3 if she wants to. She can literally move faster than an F-22 fighter jet.

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: The other girls view her as this to Satellizer, since she's bustier, has longer hair and is stronger than Satellizer. The fact that Kazuya starts avoiding Satellizer almost immediately after meeting Cassandra (for completely unrelated reasons) convinces a lot of girls that Kazuya has moved on or traded up in the LoveInterest department.
** It turns out that Kazuya's mother Orei also viewed her as this, but was determined to prove to Gengo that Ryuuichi would stay loyal her and their family in spite of Cassandra's beauty.
* AmbiguousDisorder: She's outright stated to have some sort of mental impairment. She rarely speaks, she had to be fed like a baby when she lived with the Aoi family, and granted a little girl's request to lift her up for a better view by grabbing her head before attacking the girl's mother for trying to take her back.
* BabiesEverAfter: [[spoiler:After Kazuya, she gave birth to Ryuuichi's daughter Arcadia, who became a second child that Gengo took away from her.]] Small wonder she doesn't take kindly to having children removed from her.

* PerpetualFrowner[=/=]TheStoic: Her expression never deviates from a frown that looks like it's just barely hiding a deep rage. Never.

* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Every single one of them gets taken out, not by West Genetics, but by their very own actions. For Bonus points, their attack on West Genetics ''really'' started going south the moment they used their trump card, "anti-freezing" and had it react with the Legendary Pandora.
* PsychoForHire: All of them are guilty of murder.

* TakingYouWithMe: Attempts a murder-suicide with Louis. Fails.

* HeroicSacrifice: During a flood emergancy the other members of the Platoon fled while Dolly and Arnett stayed to stop a mudslide. A second mudslide came towards them and Dolly pushed Arnett out of the way before the slide clamed her. It's implied her selfless act is what restored her family's honor.

* SinsOfTheFather: In this case, sins of the elder sister. Her elder sister Cecil was the only survior of the 8th Nova Clash that clamed the lives of all other Pandoras, but was mental scared from the ordel and forced into a wheelchair. Everyone would later falsely acuse Cecil of abandoning her team to die, leading to the disgrace of her family. What makes it harder for Dolly is that most if not all of the Pandora she trained with had older sisters of their own with died in the clash, and made it their agenda to make her life hell for it.

* TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth

Arield is the daughter of a very rich family. She once had a family member enter the ranks of a Pandora, but she was killed during the 8th Nova Clash, due to one of the Pandora's breaking her position and cowering away from the Nova.

* AlphaBitch: One of the worst in the series. She harrased Dolly for revenge because of the death of a family member during the 8th Nova Clash, and when Arnett began showing kindess to Dolly Arield started to bully her too. It's because of her attitude that Arnett has a low opinon on rich folk.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Was never seen after the prequel manga dispite being very much alive. Justified because she's likely too ashamed to face Arnett again and Arnett wouldn't want anything to do with her anymore.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: She said she didn't want to be associated with a relative of a traitor. She got her wish when Dolly died protecting the Platoon, and she now bitterly regrets it.
* MilesGloriosus: She went on about her upper-class pride and how Pandoras should look out for one another. When a landslide came threatened everyone, she ran and left Arnett and Dolly to deal with the landslide alone.

* KarmaHoudiniWarranty: After several years of getting away with abusing Holly and Satellizer, he finally gets what's coming to him when Holly snaps at the end of the Bali hotel resort arc.

* LastRequest: Tells Satellizer to never bow her head or allow herself to lose to anyone again. It has far more serious consequences than she intends, as from then on Satellizer becomes psychologically unable to give up even when she's oments away from death.

The most powerful Pandora of the 8th Nova Clash, the creator of the High End Skills, and Kazuya's older sister. She is said to have sacrificed herself at the Nova Clash to save her friends. Kazuha was special as much of her body was composed of Stigmata tissue, which allowed 20 Stigmata to be inserted into her body, but she was consumed by them and was in the process of turning into a Nova Form before her death. Because of this, the higher-ups started limiting the number of Stigmata a Pandora can have. Six of her Stigmata (known as the "Hero's Stigmata" according to Louis) have been inherited by Satellizer, three by Cathy, two by Charles, two by Julia, and one by Roxanne.

* ChekhovsGunman[=/=]ChekhovsArmoury: Her stigmata are considered Heroic Stigmata, and have exceptional strength; even Satellizer's pathetic synchronization rate with them is partially offset by how damn strong they are.

* CreepyChild: Her own mother thought as much, and blames Kazuha's behavior on Gengo's influence. * CuteBruiser: Pretty cute, but in battle she was more of a monster than even Chiffron.

* ScrewTheRulesIHaveConnections: Despite ranking poorly in the Carnival, she snatches a position in the numbers away from the actual winner thanks to Gengo. She receives an ArmorPiercingSlap from Yu-Mi when she callously justifies this by saying "that's just how the world works".

* DrowningMySorrows: Considering all the crap he's gone through over the span of decades, its no surprise he hits the sauce frequently.

* HopeSpot: Things do seem to go well for the Aois, and especially Orei, after she gets pregnant with Kazuya. She and Kazuha become much closer, and she even seems to make peace with Cassandra. Naturally, it all goes to hell after Kazuya is transferred to Cassandra's uterus when the strain of the pregnancy nearly kills Orei.
* IJustWantToBeLoved: All she wanted was to be loved by her children. Because Kazuha was so detached (to the extent of calling her "Lady"), Orie wanted a second child just so that it would reciprocate her love, despite the first birth nearly ''killing'' her. Being forced to use Cassandra as a surrogate for her son to survive, followed by his unintentional rejection when she tried to hold him, eventually drove her insane.

* TragicDream: All she wanted was to be a family with her husband and children, but ultimately they never recognized her as their family until after she had died.

* IdiotBall: Combined with BecomingTheMask. She's been playing her [[HiddenHeartOfGold facade]] before the E-Pandora for so long that she defaults to insulting and demeaning them whenever she's in their presence. As such, while it may have been unavoidable to admit that the E-Pandora project was nothing but a pretense to buy time for her real project, the Type-Maria clones, smugly talking down to a ''very desperate and distraught'' Amelia who was hyped up on the Mark IV drug, and proclaiming that anyone other than herself is simply too stupid or ignorant to understand her crimes and motivations was certainly not the best of ideas. Now she's going to have to live being the one talked down to for the rest of her life, by the very person she dismissed as worthless, who has insisted on making her life as long as possible.

* RedemptionEqualsAffliction: As a result of her wicked ways, Scarlett is left confined to a wheel-chair for the rest of her life, in the care of the one person in the world who rightfully hates her most, and wants to make sure she lives as long as possible, just to [[CruelMercy watch her suffer.]] Although bitter at first, Scarlett eventually accepts her lot in life when Gengo recruits her for his organization and the two reconcile their friendship.

* DaddysGirl: This is apparent as early as Charles' fight with Elizabeth, when her faith in her father spurs her to fight like a madman. * TheKirk: Not in the context of any specific PowerTrio, but she's one of the few characters we've seen who has been able to balance cold logic with her sense of right and wrong, which makes her a good mediator when people actually bother to listen to her. She has moral reasons for doing things like blindly obeying orders (see [[MyCountryRightOrWrong My World Government, Right or Wrong]]), and cold, logical reasons for being a good person, even when being the better person is difficult (see TheFettered).

* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: Once she gets over the shock, she acts completely normal in spite of having no arms.
* BareFistedMonk: Her Volt Weapon is a pair of gloves and boots that greatly boosts her physical talent.

* GoodOldFisticuffs: [[CurbStompBattle Curb-stomps]] three Pandora without using her weapon when she's introduced in the anime.

* CuteButPsycho: Very attractive. Also very prone to cutting and/or beating anyone that gets in her way.

* [[AndThenJohnWasAZombie And Then Amelia Was A Nova]]: The effects of the MARK IV drug combine with Amelia's angst and all of the Type-Maria clones to turn her into a completely new Nova Form.
