I might be biased because this is one of the first movies I ever watched, but I think it's great. I mean, everybody's got good chemistry with each other, Jack and Harry's sarcastic exchange after the elevator, Jack, Annie and the bus passengers eventually working together. Especially, Orteisz (?) and the tourist-guy at the end. I also love Mac's "Don't get dead." for some reason. Payne's introduction killing the security guard with a freaking screwdriver is a callous, but awesome moment.
Some people might wonder why Jack doesn't just use his badge when he first runs after the bus, but, remember just a few minutes ago one of his friends just got blown up, so, he isn't thinking very clearly and it shows. Plus, it leads into the awesome car surfing scene, so, who the heck cares ? Not me.
Sure, the bus jump is physically impossible, but you don't care because you just want them to make it. Also, in 2014 it might be very jarring that neither Jack or hardly anyone has a cell, but face it, if they'd had cell's there wouldn't have been much of a movie. Or it wouldn't have been very dramatic, which even after two or more viewings is still rather gripping and scary at times. Watching Jack's melt-down always make me cheer when Payne finally gets his just desserts. Though, I find the train station at the end, while it makes sense being L.A., is sstill slightly odd, no matter how many times you see it.
Because I like this one so much, I can't recommend it enough.
