If you've even just glanced over the work page for Muppet Treasure Island, you've probably already noticed the large amount of gushing over the fourth-wall breaking jokes and gags, awesome music, and Tim Curry at in all his hammy glory. This is not an exaggeration, the movie really is that great. From the opening number with "Shiver My Timbers" all the way to the ending credits, you'll be alternatively rolling off your chair in laughter and singing along to the numerous Ear Worms that comprise the soundtrack.
This is one of those movies that you need to watch multiple times to catch all the jokes. I've personally seen it a dozen times and still pick up on new jokes on each successive re-watch. Nearly every line is a Crowning Moment Of Funny, and range from gags poking fun at the movie itself, to just plain absurdist humor. In short, it's the same Muppet-style entertainment that we all know and love, and the source material of Treasure Island gives the character plenty of material to work with.
I haven't even mentioned Tim Curry yet. This is by far one of his best appearances, and it's clear he's having more fun than what should be allowed by law in the larger-than-life role of Long John Silver.
So, to summarize: This movie is hilariously awesome. GO WATCH IT.
Film The Muppets (and Tim Curry) at their finest.
