Never got the appeal.

I...I never got how or why this fanfic is so popular. This is (in my opinion) the world's most stupidest crossover fic, achieving levels of fail I have never seen before. Somehow, it misses all concepts of both sources. My Little Pony Friendshipis Magic automatically for even crossing it over with Fallout, and Fallout for missing the whole theme. Fallout was about looking at all the crap the world thrown you, yet still here's that light at the tunnel so bright, you don't care what happens on that journey towards it. Fallout Equestria missed these concepts by mile, turned back, then missed it again, as well as missed the broadside of the barn. Fallout Equestria has rape, grimdark characters, and other qualities that would make actual fans of Fallout to stare in their screens in awe and disgust.

Littlepip is so unlikeable, she makes the Emperor look like St. Mary. She leaves her vault, just to meet her idol instead of more personal reasons, she becomes this unrelatable tough gal, despite literally vomiting at the sky, and just have no redeeming qualities to her actions, other then just moping around to it. And that's just the main character!

I...I don't know how to put my disgust in words. I'll leave this review here. Maybe one day when I do know how to put it in words, I'll be able to expand this review. I know I can't dissuade you from reading or liking this fic, but, as a warning to new readers or actual fans of this, please play at least one Fallout game, and then look at this story again. Hopefully through my eyes.

I would like to point out, that starting with Fallout 3, Fallout started getting plenty of Grimdark and stuff like that (The Pitt, Dead Money, etc), so if you can add an elaboration about why there's no light at the end of the tunnel for FE, it would help your review immensely. For instance, in the walking dead, after a certain character death, I realized there was never going to be a resolution that could repay my time I invested.

Plus, the fact that there actually is always hope for the future is one of, if not the main theme of the story.

Just going to leave these two links here: This is a complete liveblog of Fallout: Equestria written by someone who disliked the story, and goes into scene-by-scene detail as to why. This, however, is a liveblog written by someone who loved the story, and similarly goes into scene-by-scene detail.

While I understand that there's a word count limit on reviews here, both of those liveblogs have vastly more value than this hyperbolic "review". I sincerely doubt, from the way this is written, that you read past Chapter 6 or 7. While that's fine (if a story can't hold your interest, then that's a failure on the story's part), if you haven't read the full story, you have to acknowledge in your review.

Dude, you know you're supposed to actually try and support your review with examples, right? All you did was pout and whine and say, "I... I... I... I hated this story and you should too!".

It's really not about him failing to list examples more than it is him having really stupid criteria in its own right. I mean, look at this:

"Most stupidest." I don't have to explain this.

"It misses all concepts of both sources." It never made the pretense for catching either.

"My Little Pony Friendship is Magic automatically for-" Preconceived notions.

"Fallout was about looking at all the crap the world thrown you, yet still here's that light at the tunnel so bright, you don't care what happens on that journey towards it. Fallout Equestria missed these concepts by mile, turned back, then missed it again, as well as missed the broadside of the barn. Fallout Equestria has rape, grimdark characters, and other qualities that would make actual fans of Fallout to stare in their screens in awe and disgust." A completely subjective interpretation. IIRC Chris Avellone himself considered the themes of Fallout to revolve around hopelessness. It can be taken either way.

"Fallout Equestria has rape, grimdark characters, and other qualities that would make actual fans of Fallout to stare in their screens in awe and disgust." Given that both those things have been featured in the Fallout series before (multiple times even), I highly doubt that there's anything in that ambiguous "other things" angle that could possibly disgust a Fallout fan. We're talking about dudes that get pissed because they're not allowed to murder children here.

"She leaves the Vault, just to meet her idol." No, she left the Vault in an attempt to redeem herself to the populace, on the grounds that she really didn't have any reason to stay, and dying while trying to be a hero is better than dying while living as the mare that let the Vault's sweetheart run out into the Wasteland and get killed.

"Unrelatable tough gal." It's a valid point, but subjective, and not worthy of listing if the premise of your review is to explain why something isn't worthy of its praise. Not to mention that relatability really isn't something you should predicate your appreciation of a character on, but that's just my opinion.

"Despite literally vomiting at the sky." A biased perspective if there ever was one. It might seem odd to vomit at the sky when you've lived your whole life being able to see it, but when you live your whole life in isolation from things like that they tend to have a much bigger affect on you. Hell, when I was six, I was fucking terrified of the sky, and I'd been under it for six years.

"No redeeming qualities to her actions, other then just moping around to it." The way this sentence is written implies that her moping IS a redeeming quality.

"And that's just the main character!" Which implies that your distaste for a single character in a story will probably rub off on your opinion of all the others.

"Please play at least one Fallout game." It really doesn't seem like your criticisms of the story hinged on you being a long-time Fallout player. This is a complete non-sequitur.

I've played all but two fallout games van buren and Ps2 BOS. I've played all the restoration content as well as DL Cs for applicable games. I've even had official patches and mods.

And I would still promote FOE as a wonderful story that was well written.

FOE and MLP:FIM are an odd pair but KKAT made it work beautifully as aspects of both worlds don't merely cross but merge in a ahem "logical" manner.

If anyone has played what I've played you'll see that fallout is not merely about hope nor despair. There's good fun to be had and things that you should simply take in stride.

Fallout 1 introduces us mad max style to a new wasteland Fallout 2 shows us the budding settlements of New California Fallout Tactics if canon show further development of the BOS Fallout 3 introduces aliens as cannon and cements the BOS as an eastern power, and the fall of the old world. Fallout NV shows a changing world for better or worse (worse probs)

Fallout isn't perfect there are criticisms all around so it shouldn't be used as a measuring rod to see if something is good or not.
