I like it!

I'm a relatively new fan to ANY of the comic book franchises. I just decided to pick up the first volume on a whim when I was at a bookstore's clearance sale. I've been a fan of Spidey for as long as I can remember, but I was born when comics were just starting to decline and cartoons were starting to take their place.

I still loved this comic, though. It was realistic, you got to know Ben Parker better, Peter is more relatable, and I just LOVE it. The art can be a little weird at times, but I guess I'm just too used to manga. This is an interesting modern take on Spidey-s adventures and a must-read for fans both new and old.

I'm a big fan of Ultimate Spider-Man, too. I've been following it for years. Without spoiling anything, I'll say that the series really picks up, reintroducing elements from every corner of the extensive Spider-Man mythos and making the material accessible to new readers and old fans alike. Bendis and Bagley's run on the series is the longest 2 man collaboration on a single title in comic book history.

Do yourself a big favor and pick up volumes 2, 3, 4, and so on. Bendis and Bagley did 17 volumes of Ultimate Spidey together in its original run. I guarantee you will not be bored.

Enjoy!
