I don't know what yall expected from a 15 year wait

It is 2022 and I still see people being like THIS GAME IS SHIT OR THIS GAME IS BAD OR TERRIBLE OR GARBAGE or THE WORST GAME EVER. As someone who thought it was boderline abysmal when it first came out trying it again (mostly to just get bragging rights on getting its platinum trophy) in 2015 and 100%ing it made me realize something.... this game's nowhere near as bad as like every gamer has to declare. Especially compared to the sheer garbage that usually gets called the worst game ever nowadays that actually earns it. Pros - Hilarious. This game is a terrible Duke Nukem game but as a trashy raunchy R rated comedy its one of the funniest games I've played. Compared to Dead Rising 4 doing the same thing years later Forever actually succeeds at makin me laugh at borderline really really awful things. - Shooting feels fun as hell. I have heard many call this a Call of Duty/Halo clone. Compared to most other Halo clones I've played this one actually feels good to play. It feels much like a way way way less refined Doom 2016. And even then it's still fun. - The only time other than Wolfenstein The New Order where regenerating health is justified. So I really hate regenerating health. I think its a bullshit mechanic that only justifies waiting and the inability to increase it only makes it more obnoxious. Duke Forever weaponizes 3Ds gimmick of interacting with unrelated nonsense for kicks to upgrade your health and I think thats a friggin fantastic idea. Exploration more than any other non Metroid Prime FPS is actually encouraged to survive this game. - Duke is a Michael Bay movie tier bastardization of the character and honestly I still liked his character a lot other than one exception. This is not the same Duke from 3D. This is a way more intentionally belligerent dickish one and that kinda clicks with me when everyone else was either an anti hero a hero or villain. It's the closest thing since Bulletstorm to literally playing the awful shady protagonist of a Raunchy R Rated comedy and I loved it. Cons - Story is awful I get it had no reason to be a thing I just think that it's lousy as hell even by no storyline standards. I get that story wouldn't be the focus but even 3D had a better storyline and that wasn't even the focus of that. - The driving is wretched Even as a person whos insane enough to defend this game on the internet I dread using these vehicles. It controls like driving through sludge dumped from a toxic waste facility. - The Hive is just unnecessary shock bait A game this wacky and over the top suddenly stops to have a grotesquely disturbing unsettling and borderline sexist level full of rape. Like I don't know who could even find this funny and I have the most pitch black sense of humor. Whoever wrote this scenario and thought it was funny please seek psychological help. You should not be writing for a comedy. Also fuck Duke in this level. He's fine in the rest of the game but like just here he's an unrepentant cunt. - Puzzles are bad Everyone dunked on this I agree too thats it. Dont make fun of Valve puzzles then do that exact thing. - Graphics are abysmal This was made in Unreal Engine 1. You can definitely feel that with the games look. This game is one of the biggest mixed bags I've ever played. The parts I love keep me coming back to it every couple of years but the parts I hate justify me only playing it or when I feel like it. It's a fine game. Everyone acts like this one game murdered their pets and loved ones. If you just want a trashy raunchy comedy aren't easily offended and an alright Halo clone you could do much worse. If you're a Duke 3D fan you already decided this games fate before reading this in that case go play 3D and enjoy that. 7.5/10

You need to make paragraph breaks so that your review is better organized and more readable.

The review is 739 characters over the limit. If you want to go back to edit it(as you should to put in the paragraphs) you'll have to trim it down a bit or the system won't let you save your changes.

Personally, I was never all that interested in Duke Nukem Forever or even Duke Nukem 3D, since I'm most fond of the first two Duke Nukems, especially the orignal, since it was one of the first video games I ever played. The cons I see in this review seem severe enough that a 7.5 seems like an overly generous score, even under the Four Point Scale.

Bullestorm has a better depiction of Duke than this game.

@Jiballsan

Blame Civvie 11 for making DNF bashing popular.
