Fun, sexy but unbearably safe.

Getsuyoubi No Tawawa or Tawawa on Monday takes place in a fictionalized Japanese prefecture that is a paradise full of beautiful, DTF women. The closest thing to a main character is a nice young girl named Ai-Chan who technically saved a man from suicidal depression. Encased in this show and...manga I guess, is a story of Ai-chan and women like her going about their days boobing boobily around town.

I really like Tawawa On Monday. I find it soothing in a way. It's a show and an image set that does not pretend to be anything it isn't. You read or watch Tawawa for the cute girls with huge breasts and that's fine. Refreshingly, neither you nor the various love interests are punished for that desire. We're all adults here, after all. And some adult realities are explored, very rare for ecchi almost all of these characters are sexually active. Very rarely will you find the tsundere who flips between ungodly lust and barely contained hatred. It's just not that kind of show. And unlike it's competitor "Ganbare, Douki-Chan" there's enough variety per installment and plenty of fanservive to keep you awake.

My criticisms are going to sound a bit strange, but I'll do my best to convey them. At first I was elated that the anime itself had a runtime of 5 minutes. That was so unheard of to me, I couldn't wrap my head around it. You can legitimately finish a season in an hour. But as time's gone on I really wish it was longer. I like these characters enough that I could stand to watch them for the runtime of a regular TV program.

The writing can be inconsistent. For instance, the season 1 finale was that Ai-Chan and the Salaryman officially upgraded their relationship and had sex at his apartment. But then in season 2, it's heavily implied that they're still in the ambiguous "Friends who spend a lot of time together" category going on dates but not really and then both going home unsatisfied.

Another problem, and this might be where I lose you, is that it's not lewd enough. The main appeal are the giant sacks of flesh busting out of shirts or being seen flat on surfaces, and nudity is kept PG-13 with no areola or genitalia showing. That being said, this show is an obvious TV-MA...I just don't think the director knows that. I know these are based on short comics and other images that are best described as "soft ecchi" but you really want to go the extra step. I often think about certain H-series that devote half of their runtime to "Cute girls doing cute things" before showing off all the H just after the credits roll and dropping all pretense. Tawawa could easily be one of those and you sell it on the BD.

My perverted ramblings aside, I think Tawawa is definetly worth a watch if you want your lewds with with a large amount of cute and a small story on the side. 8/10
