Hilarious and touching and a little twisted

I've now seen I, Tonya twice in the past week (and this is after seeing it in the theater when it came out), and at this point I can easily say it's my favorite biopic. It's honestly rising in the ranks of my favorite movies of all time!

I think the thing that stuck with me about this story is the self-conscious 4th wall breakage. It brings an element of realness to the story that's hard to find in mainstream Hollywood. That's not to say that I, Tonya isn't mainstream, but I think there's something to be said about the complexity of these people when compared to the bland, broad strokes at memorable characters that we're more used to seeing. It's one of those stories that you can come back to over and over, and I love that.
