You could be so much more than just a clicker...*sigh*

I don't know how to feel about this game, really, so I'm just going to get into the meat of it. Set in an alternate universe from HuniePop, this game ambitiously decides to completely abandon HuniePop's concept to become a FarmVille clone.

On the one hand, it shares HuniePop's strategic depth. There are benefits and trade-offs to what you have your girls do, what items you employ, what stats you maximize. The difficulty also increases each day (not unlike in HuniePop.) You really have to think to maximize your returns on investment and your actions. There's also some interesting meta-commentary on the adult industry and the way it treats its workers. The flavor text that comes with each girl's profile also is both a little edgy and keeps the game grounded in HuniePop's universe.

On the other hand, saying that a game like this has surprising depth is really damning it with faint praise. It's essentially FarmVille. The upside is that there's no energy system but, at its core, it's a clicker and feels more like a casual game for mobile than its predecessor did. For $7, one can hardly complain but, then again, you can get the original X-Com for even cheaper. There's an attempt to add replay value by including unlockable wardrobes, but it's hardly enough to justify a new playthrough. The real game is to top yourself and get further in the ranking.

As for the production values, overall the art's fairly good. Character designs are an interesting blend of super-deformed and a somewhat retro Western style. Sound is quite good; it retains HuniePop's excellent voice acting and, while the tracks skew a little bit easy listening and lack the diversity of style that HuniePop's did, World of Wandag turned in another solid performance this time.

Basically, if you want a little time-waster that's slightly edgy and you don't want to burn a hole in your pocket, it's worth the money. Be warned, though, it doesn't have much replay value and, if you're looking for HuniePop 2, then this isn't the game for you.
