I started watching the film expecting a good horror film, but found myself genuinely scared for far smaller a portion of the runtime than I’d expected. However, that does not mean I did not like the film—I definitely did, but what really got me was the human tragedy in it. For most of the beginning I was on the verge of tears, and I actually cried near the film climax. As a matter of fact, a significant deal of the part that was meant to be scary just made me very sad instead, but in a good, cathartic way, and it was, all in all, wonderful.
I loved this film, and I recommend it to anyone who doesn’t mind horror and likes good character-oriented stories, especially if they have experience, directly or indirectly, with dealing with mental illness and is familiar with the gut-wrenching struggle.
Not so much a scary film but definitely a sad and moving one.
