Yandere-chan, put down those scissors!

God.

This is a weird game.

It was made by Zero-Q aka Nyodude, the person responsible for Higurashi Parody Fandub, about seven episodes of an Umineko Abridged Series, and about ten episodes of a Mirai Nikki Abridged Series. This game has Author Appeal all over it. The author clearly likes the yandere character archetype, so he made a game based around an original character with the yandere settings of cute-crazy set exactly how he likes them. That's all, ladies and gentlemen.

The author has also acknowledged it's not the best game. It's not very detailed, it's not especially long, and there's really only one character: Mia, the yandere. The main character ostensibly has a personality, but not much of one. Their personalities aren't too original either. The main character seems to be channeling the spirit of Keiichi from Higurashi, and Mia is sort of a combination of Rena, Yuuno, and Maria from Higurashi, Mirai Nikki and Umineko.

Despite this, it's not a bad experience. The story is tightly focused. I found myself willing to overlook its obvious faults just to find the one Good Ending, and how bad the Bad Endings get. It isn't ambitious. The author knew what he wanted, a short-story about a yandere, and that's exactly what it is. No one else in the story even has a name, except for the one the player enters for the main character.

To sum up: if you're a fan of horror games and the yandere character-type, you might as well give this game a look. If you don't like it, well, you probably only wasted about an hour of your life.

Now the negatives.

SPOILERS!

The main negative with this game is that apparently the author has little familiarity with just how the legal and mental health systems work. The story goes immediately from "Mia is arrested for stabbing me," to "We stuck a plea bargain deal for her to just be committed and not thrown in jail." This is clearly a part of the story the author wasn't really interested in so it's glossed over as quickly as possible. Still, it's jarring enough that the suspension of disbelief is shaken.

The second low point comes from one of the endings in which Mia poisons the main character and all of his friends. It suffers from extreme Ending Fatigue and seems to go on forever, much longer than the other endings. It's tedious enough it deserves its own special mention.
