Beautiful, but meh.

From the creators that brought you Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Fullmetal Alchemist and Soul Eater comes...The anime version of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. For all the hype it was given and the creative forces behind it, it's not quite on the level you'd expect it to be. It's a gag series, sure. But it's protagonists, randomness, and negative continuity reminds one of (again) Aqua Teen Hunger Force, right down to the characters and episode plots. Dandy is Master Shake. Meow is Meatwad. And QT is Frylocke. The Gogol empire is more or less a whole fleet of doctor Weird stand ins. It's entirely episodic in nature(Especially since the protagonists die in them, repeatedly) Most episodes are confined into themselves, without characters really referencing other episodes much at all(So you can watch it, in any order). It's not the worst anime series ever. And it shouldn't be, considering the talent behind it. It's just not the amazing anime you would expect it to be, considering the talent behind it. This is an anime where the visuals and music are the greatest reason to watch, rather than the plot or the comedy or the characters. And yes Speaking of it. The animation is crisp, smooth, fastpaced, colorful and delightful. Many scenes in this show are an art masterpiece in motion. And it has a furiously dedicated music soundtrack. The show is simply pleasing to the ears. But despite similarities, it's not the spiritual successor to Cowboy Bebop. And I don't need to to you the voice acting is fine because Funimation. Ian Sinclair is amazing as dandy.

I see the similarities between the two. Mostly QT as Frylock. Dandy being a jerkass to Meow is very reminiscent of Meatwad and Master Shake. I'd say for a gag series, it's actually really good. Especially when it gets some more emotional moments, (2 so far, but still.......) I'd say it's worth the watch.

I don't see any correlations between Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Space Dandy other than they're both aired on Adult Swim. Not to mention that there are multiple episodes that are less episodic, as well as multiple episodes that are proof of how the show can be mature and handle genres other than comedy (drama, action) better than ATHF ever could.

@Nova I Don't believe the episodes are really any less episodic. Can you really tell me this series can't be watched in any order? And if not Aqua Teen than try comparing it to RegularShow it's a matter of opinion but...that's mine.

I actually think it's kind of an anime portmanteau of ATHF and Wander Over Yonder.

Idiot Hero, Only Sane Man, and Token Evil Teammate aren\'t unique to ATHF, and in fact, are pretty much the basis of any Power Trio in a comedy.
