An Underrated Psychological Drama

Sci-Fi HARRY is an interesting anime. It's a shame it never had a large following, as it has some great characters, an interesting mystery storyline, and the character design/aesthetics are really different than what you'd normally see.

Story: I though the story was overall very interesting, albeit a bit cliche at times. Learning more about the wonders and horrors of Harry's power always made you wonder what would happen next, because as for the most part, he has no control over them. There's a multitude of plotlines in the story. There's an organization that's trying to find more about Harry's powers, a little girl who's begun to befriend Harry, two classmates of Harry who's trying to find him, a detective trying to find more about said mysterious organization, and even a Mad Scientist or two. Sometimes the multiple plotlines can make things confusing to follow, however all of them are very interesting in their own way, which will always keep the viewer entertained.

Characters: One of the most glaring things about this anime is that it takes place in America. As such, the character design is very different from your typical anime. In terms of personality, most of the characters are interesting, and each has a backstory just waiting to be revealed. Sometimes the characters(more specifically Harry) can get annoying. I know he's very socially-awkward, but sometimes it can be a pain.

Voice Acting: The anime is only available in Japanese at the moment, so for those of you hoping for an English Dub, sorry. However, the Japanese dubbing is spot on. I never thought a character was miscast. Harry sounds like your typical shy, socially-awkward teen, Catherine sounds like an energetic girl, yadda yadda. I wouldn't say there was anything fantastic, but it was still good nonetheless.

Animation: The intro is just....weird. As for the standard animation featured in the show, it's all pretty good. I had no problems with it whatsoever.

Soundtrack: There are a few really good tracks, but the OST as a whole never really blew any boundaries. The intro and outro are very good though. One problem I had though, was due to the limited OST, I found many songs being used repeatedly.

Overall Rating: 8/10: Not for everybody(it contains some nudity, graphic violence, and is just plain creepy at times), but if you like psycho/horror, you'll enjoy.
