Sonic After The Sequel

Well I downloaded the game and gave it a shot. I can't say I'm sold on the concept. The level design feels Metropolis Zone levels of awkward right from the get go, when it ought to start out linear and slowly work its way up to that point. The physics are extremely wonky, and feel almost completely different from the Genesis titles (You can actually GAIN air from bouncing on a monitor from high up). Neither Spin Dashing nor Peeling-Out feel natural anymore; whereas the Genesis/CD titles will let you get a quick speed boost by just hitting the button once or twice and dashing off, here you have to hammer away at the button just to build up any decent speed. And on top of that, the cutscenes don't work, and I have to disable them every time I start the game up.

I understand this was made by one guy, but that doesn't change the fact that I just don't feel like I'm having fun when I play. If the official site is serious about this game being very likely to get slapped with a C&D from Sega... honestly, I won't really care.

Score: 2/5

The cutscenes need Active X to work. It's not the developer's fault you don't have it on your computer. You should be able to find it easily enough, or you could just view them form the SWF folder

Why is a review of Sonic After the Sequel on the Sonic Before the Sequel review page?

To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."
