Yes, Armando was the unfaithful one, but Betty was also needed to participate, what she could have chosen not to, if not out of empathy, then for her own principles, dignity and self-preservation. Assuming Marcela's treatment of her had nothing to do with the very rightful suspicion about Betty assisting with Armando's affairs. And it's not like she received no support or respect, even if that wasn't of the romantic kind. She had a loving family, True Companions and she was successful at work. That didn't make even Armando special in the beginning, unless him being the first attractive man to be nice to her.
