Yeah it's probably time for a split.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.I've been doing a bit of thinking, and given the increased focus on sapient species, their societies, and individuals within them, it seems to me like a good case could be made for building a character page. Now, the issue here is that it's very common for character pages for works with unusual creatures to also cover things like races, animal species, and the like. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but that covers a significant majority of tropes and information in this project, and I worry that in this case doing so could lead to a worst-case situation where a) the main page is left with excessively little material, and b) the character page is flooded with thousands of small folders each only containing a couple of tropes. Thus, if we do make a character page, it would be advisable to decide early what's to be included and how. I see four basic options:
- We dodge the issue entirely; no character page.
- The character page includes only individual, named characters.
- As above, but also including sapient species and their societies and subgroups (gravedigger species, daydreamer cultures, the sea stewards, etc.)
- As above, but also including major animal groups (where "major" could have any number of definitions, including just "has more than a set number of tropes".)
Seconding doing 3 if we go for a character page.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Since we seem to be leaning 3, I can can make a proof-of-concept of it in a sandbox page so we can see how it looks. With this sort of thing it's usually easier to add more things later than to remove them, anyway.
Aight, a bit late but a sandbox is up for viewing. The main issue right now, I think, is that it doesn't make a distinction between folders for species and cultures and folders for individuals, which makes things a little confusing.
Edited by TheriocephalusDid some separating into sections.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.I think that the sandbox looks good enough to put up in a real character page by now, yes?
I'd agree.
EDIT: I'll go ahead and move it now.
Edited by rmctagg09 Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Since it's moved we should probably remove the duplicate entries from the main page.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.I can go through and try to do something about that when I get home from work. Of course, if anyone wants a go before then, feel free.
I think we should separate the main page, its starting to become delayed when I edit it because its getting too big.
