I feel it may be worth adding a note to the Shoot the Rope entry on the main series page. The sandbag puts out the film "powder trail" quite easily. This is actually a bit of Artistic License (Chemistry?) in that all film base at that time would have been Nitrate filmbase, which is incredibly flammable—and cannot be put out with sand, water, or fire extinguishers. It will literally continue to burn underwater, which is really quite impressive. It's definitely Rule of Cool, but explains why the guy tied up is so terrified of the film being set on fire.
