What was the episode where Bill was talking about how much energy it takes to get into orbit, and this segued into how light cannot escape black holes and then Bill went off all laughing mad, much to the narrator's terror?

I've tried gravity, outer space, friction, atmosphere, and for the life of me, I can't find it!

This really existed? This is for real? It's a real-life real-world show, and not something that was made up for "the Big Bang Theory" as something Sheldon and Leonard watched as kids? Ye gods, I'll be finding out next that Professor Proton was for real too!

Male, early sixties, Cranky old fart, at least two decades behind. So you have been warned. Functionally illiterate in several languages. Hide / Show Replies

Yes, this really existed, was for real, was a real-life real-world show, and was not invented for TBBT. Eat your heart out.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

I had thought about adding an entry for 'Totally Radical', but I reneged for two reasons: 1) They weren't trying nearly so hard as "Beakman's World", and 2) I didn't know what to call that thing editors do where they loop the same fraction-of-a-second of footage over and over before continuing, like "SCI-SCI-SCI-SCI-SCIENCE!". Does that have a name?

I remember one time I was talking with another guy, and he once said that the theme song to Bill Nye The Science Guy was the best song to strip to (specifically, the repeating "Bill! Bill! Bill!...")

I have no idea how this subject came up, but it was at Space Camp.
