This applies regardless of the person's actual political beliefs, as that is secondary to them. Their main concern is success and will do anything, no matter how low, to do it.
An example is Blaire White, whose actual political compass test results, if I recall was libertarian-left. However, she realized that her fanbase of mostly right-wingers would not be happy about that, so she lied and Google inspected a right-wing Libertarian result.
