I'm not 100% sure what you're talking about, but I'd say the explanation would be... the context behind the ads (e.g. background and/or what they are about), and what caused people on Tumblr to find it funny.

manscaped itself is a men’s grooming subscription service btw. i can’t words rn, but the best way to describe it is 1.) jokes about the sheer *pervasiveness* of the ads (i.e. screenshots of the ‘sponsored’ border of a Manscaped ad under a post joking about the ads) and the other slightly less common flavor of Tumblr banning porn and then basically telling its entire userbase to shave their balls

hey, just letting you know the "mods are asleep, post x" meme originated from 4chan threads requesting CP. a lot of users have stopped using that meme for this reason.

I added a note to the meme. It's actually disturbingly common on Tumblr that a lot of these memes come from other sites with less...pure intentions.

Maybe I just have nice people on my dash, but the "anyone who uses an old meme will be trashed violently" thing comes off as an obnoxious exaggeration. It probably needs a rewrite.

I've noticed some back-and-forth when it comes to the "Kung Pow Penis" entry. Apparently there's a bit of discourse as to whether it is simple trolling of a controversial user or outright harassment. Should we disallow that entry, or at least just make sure the writing of it remains neutral?
