No idea why this trope hasn't been bitten by the "no quotation trope names" mania. Seems so arbitrary around here.

I'm deleting the whole real life section, since none of them provides proof that the phrase was said, and in some cases, it's... pretty unlikely.

I'll reproduce them here for later use, though, since it seems they must be an example of some trope about characters not dying, I just can't find one.

  • This is most likely what the conspirators behind Rasputin's death were screaming...
  • And the conspirators who tried to kill Hitler — most of them his own officers.
  • One problem with aerial warfare is that the guys who launch an attack rarely will hang around long enough to properly survey the results (due to limited fuel and the fact that they likely just kicked a hornet's nest right in the nuts). This is bad enough with land-based targets which you can send a recon plane to fly through and take pictures of after the smoke settles, but ships move around, and if you sink them, obviously they just disappear. This made verifying the destruction of a target tricky at best for aviators on all sides. The USS Yorktown, for example, was reported sunk by Japanese pilots three times in a single month.
  • The Universe might have been screaming this at Ernest Hemingway, since Fate seemed to have a personal vendetta against him, and tried to kill him at every turn. Was a war correspondent for two wars, two car crashes, two plane crashes, disease, you name it. He came back from the brink so many times, the rumor is that he kept a scrapbook of his own premature obituaries. In the end it was Hemingway who did himself in, since Fate couldn't finish the job.
  • Cracked presents 5 animals that are terrifyingly hard to kill.

Would CV-6, USS Enterprise qualify as an example?

In World War II, she proved so tenacious that she was dubbed the Grey Ghost by the Japanese.

Can I add to real-life tab about diseases and infection, with recent plague of COVID only managed to be lulled to sleep and doctors being paranoid to hells depths about Covid waking up again and adapting to anti-strains?

When an idea is formed and practiced, learn NOT from the creators but the reputation the public invest in. Website fine, idiot admins bad!
