I pulled this, because I'm not sure it's this trope.

Pretty much any episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine featuring Garak.
Bashir: Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?
Garak: My dear Doctor, they're all true.
Bashir: Even the lies?
Garak: Especially the lies.
- Word of God says that, at least in regards to Bashir, it wasn't a lie.

Garak lies about a lot of things, but I don't recall any suggestion that Bashir ever doubted their friendship (or whatever it was), or that Garak ever betrayed him in a way that might lead to that.
