... What does this mean? "For the Dental"? Dental what? "Health plan"? I don't get it. Surely this is something rather specific to yanks, as there are no such things here in Britain to the best of my knowledge.

NHS dental provision in Britain is patchy and sporadic and only provides the most basic entry-level care - and you still have to pay a large part of the costs. American dentistry may bedriven by profit and not need (like anything else in the US healthcare "system") - but lots of British employers are now offering dental care plans that move you up to the next level and allow a higher-tier service provided it can be paid for, including an element of cosmetic dentistry that the NHS never has paid for. In a country where al ot of people struggle with even the basic NHS dental charges and find these hard to budget for, employer-subsidised private dentistry is a perk. As our delightful Government moves us away from all that nasty residual socialism and towards a more enlightened American model, we can see this extending from dentistry to all the other things the NHS used to provide!
