Is there any particular reason this requires the parent be paired up during the course of the story? A character could start the story in a relationship with someone they married for their kids' sake.
Likewise, is there any particular reason they have to be widowed/divorced instead of just a single parent marrying for their kids?
This does feel unnecessarily narrow, and since Tropes Are Flexible I would think it could include single parents despite the "remarrying" in the title.
