"This trope is similar to the more cynical ways to play a Dogged Nice Guy; both tropes are about well-meaning, sincere love interests with wrongheaded ideas about what constitutes romance and how their object of affection actually wants to be treated." I feel like this should be changed to reflect the paragraph that's just above it that states the Prince Charming Wannabe is motivated by "Lust and Pride". The "well-meaning, sincere" part doesn't sit right with the selfish, egotistical impression I got. It seems like it's playing into the whole Nice Guy™ thing.
What about Prince Edward from Disney's Enchanted? Would he fit this role?
Edited by ShrekFan100Wouldn't Jafar from Disney's Aladdin fit this role? He proposes to Princess Jasmine while manipulating the sultan with his snake staff and she rejects him. He then proposes to her again after he takes over the kingdom of Agrabah while presenting her with a crown to be his queen and she rejects him again. So wouldn't he obviously fit the role? Belle rejected Gaston and Jasmine rejected Jafar.

To wit: "A Wrong Genre Savvy Hopeless Suitor who fantasizes that he's the Prince Charming or Knight in Shining Armor who will effortlessly sweep the heroine off her feet and rescue her from a life of duldrum and/or misery."
Not one word of that applies to Jafar. Except "he".
Edited by ShrekFan100I guess I didn't think about that. All I was thinking about was what I said above. It's just that I basically analyze movies and come up with what I think is the facts. I'm new to this site so can you please cut me some slack? And how does every troper know what I do all the time?
Edited by ShrekFan100While I'm not sure whether or not you will be allowed to edit again, assuming you are, it would be good to start by knowing what a trope is about, and then thinking about whether characters apply.
HodorYes, I just got off suspension from editing this last midnight (where I live).
Edited by ShrekFan100Not sure how to put this, but I wouldn't be so sure about that...
HodorWhat it boils down to is this: Read the trope description before you start adding examples. All of the edits you made show evidence that you didn't bother. Hell, some of them it doesn't even look like you read the titles. And that's a pretty basic thing to do, really.
As for how we know what you're doing, we watch the edit histories. You can put any troper's handle into the little textbox to the left where it says "Recent edits for:", and it tells you what he or she's been up to lately.
If you should get your editing privileges back, just remember: Read and understand the trope description before you post.
Embarrissingly, I just got back on suspension. It's not permanant, but it is for a while and during this time, I will think about everything you are all saying. Maybe from now on (after I get off suspension) I should just ask the tropers before I edit anything into a category. Maybe it would just be safer that way in which it will be a lot easier for me to avoid suspension.
Edited by ShrekFan100Would the guy being sung to in Taylor Swift 's "White Horse" fit this trope?
