Cut the page quote:

Alfred: Say, Ludwig, are you and Gilbert blond?
Ludwig: Ja.
Alfred: Ha. I knew it.
Ludwig: Did you think that because we are German?

— A Hetalia: Axis Powers fanfic

because the fanfic isn't properly credited, and googling some of the lines gives me no results other than the trope page, which leads me to believe the fanfic may not even exist.

If anyone is aware of the fic, you're welcome to reinstate the quote (and provide the actual title).

Removed Elena because for one she is clearly not an aversion considering she does look pretty stereotypically African (well, about as stereotypically African as someone with white hair and blue eyes does). And calling her facial features inherently European makes no sense consideirng there is nothing inherently European about her looks outside of maybe her blue eyes (even then, there exists African people with natrually blue eyes. It's rare, but it shows that even blue eyes aren't exclusively European). There exists plenty of African people with similar facial features as Elena

The whole description seems to hide a veiled contempt for Americans.

I've noticed that, too. Then again, it's the internet. What do you expect?

I honestly think we should get rid of that paragraph, it's irrelevant to this entire trope (and condescending to an absurd degree).

"Latin American people are generally all given a tan skin color and black or dark brown hair, even though most people from countries like Cuba, Brazil, and Argentina are of predominantly or exclusively European descent." This one seems out of place. The majority (or, more conservatively, the plurality) of Latin Americans actually looks like this. Moreover, even in countries where most inhabitants are of predominantly European descent, the genetic dominance of dark hair and eye colours means that they still exhibit these traits more often than not. Tan skin comes from living in tropical and subtropical areas, and it takes very little of this trait for the VERY fair Japanese to consider them dark-skinned in contrast to themselves.

  • Eastern European/Slavic, particularly Russian, characters typically have more squarish, rugged facial features and greater statures than are generally present in this region, especially among women - aside from the heavy accents.

Okay, if this is supposed to be about what a character looks like, then why are accents even mentioned? And more specifically, doesn't this deal with hair/eye colors (not exclusively, if I'm not mistaken), and should therefore mention them for the Slavic example, at least in passing? Although there seems to be a trend with the funny hat*

and sometimes a mustache as a kind of joke/meme about Russians, but I don't think it's relevant enough to put in the main page.

Just thought I'd also put it under discussion. Someone changed the image and I changed it back- I didn't think the new image really worked, because as I noted in my edit reason, all of the characters in that one one looked European (and, I'm a fan of Darker Than Black, the source of the old image).
