I wanna add an example to the Anime/Manga section, but first:
- Iris in the anime adaptation of Fate Zero.
Is that how you spell the character's name? They pronounce it "eye-ree", so I just figured the "s" was silent, but now I'm not sure.
It may be worth pointing out, simply as a discussion topic, that hair is not actually solid chunks as depicted in animation. Most animation up to this point cannot portray each individual strand of hair.
This therefore provides some justification for the trope, as it could be taken as seeing between the strands partially to the eyebrows beneath, even if there are not actually separate strands detailed in the animation.
Edited by FearOfTheUnknownEr, it's because of layering in animation, isn't it? The facial bits are drawn separately so they can recycle the blank faces..
Why is it just eyebrows? In the reference image and most of the examples I can find, pretty much their whole eye is visible through their hair.
