Okay, we really need to either clean this trope page up or change the trope. I think we were discussing a new title once but nothing came of it. The description clearly states it is about overcoming some influence by willpower not just having willpower. I get it, lots of people don't read the description if the title is this clear but here the title is just misleading and probably more than half the entries don't fit...

This article should probably be called Shatnerian Reserves. Captain Kirk is the master of overcoming brainwashing (in one episode, Spock explains that Kirk's unique resistance to mind control is because he's already been brainwashed... by his obsessive love for the Enterprise), the verbal strain that a character uses when resisting the brainwashing almost invariably mimics Shatner's... pause!... acting, and even Deadpool agrees (in one issue, he resists a Venom Symbiote (or is that symbiont?), saying "Must... draw on... shatnerian... reserves...!"
