"Mad Magazine posited a future where Western man, relying more and more on wheeled mobility, ends up round-bottomed with vestigial legs - way back in the '50s."

Any idea which issue this was?

I tried looking through the contents in all 1950s issues (#1-#51) on madcoversite.com. But this site doesn't have synopses of the articles, only titles. Is it Mad #39 Bob and Ray - Big Big Earth? Or is it Mad #44 Veeble People? Or something else?

It was from the very first issue, from October 1952. Also, the people there weren't fat - their muscles had just atrophied from having machines to do everything for them.

Just saying "This happens in the second story arc" in the Galaxy Express section is a bit vague, I'm not an expert on the manga but I think someone ought to add a specific chapter/episode. I remember the episode in the tv show where it happened. Idle One's mirror Season 2 episode 15. I can add that if that would be ok. And does anyone have a thought to what happened to the woman? Did she escape with her husband? Did she escape alone, or should we assume she went full blob and is stuck there. Perhaps a discussion can be started.

Edited by TheDarkMaster2 The far left is a scourge, as is the far right. I am a central observer of this nonsense.
