  • In The Bible, Jesus comes down pretty firmly on the side of All Play in the story of Mary and Martha.

This is from Luke 10:38-42, but it's not an example of this trope. The Aesop is that Mary chose to listen to Jesus—in the Bible, God (and thus Jesus) is always the Greatest Good that one is supposed to choose above all else.
