The original novels, both manga, and the anime all diverge enough for some to have tropes that others do not. Every adaptation listed after the Ritsu Manga takes the first case in a different direction, down to different body counts, and that's just an example. The closest work to the novels out of the ones I mentioned above is the Oda Manga, and even that might end after the Despair arc* Manga chapters after 59 are being handled by RuthlessNightsScans. It's really making the page something of a mess.
