Why is it always implied that Homer is destined to look like Grandpa when he clearly favors Mona in terms of at least facial appearance? Which also makes things way more confusing when his half-brother Herb is revealed to be Abe's son when he looks JUST like Homer who looks just like Mona. Yet in "New Kids on the Blecch" Homer looks like Grandpa when dehydrated. I guess he takes after both, but it still doesn't explain Herb.
