Hey, could we perhaps change the Game Breaker page to Tier Induced Scrappy? All of the game breaker items could fit in fine on the page, while we could add some of the underpowered weapons to the page as well.

Here it is, folks. Proof positive that Team Fortress 2 isn't nearly as balanced as most of its avid players claim.

What do you guys think about the Bushwacka (sniper melee)?

Sniper is supposed to be weak at close range, but the Bushwacka (almost) completely averts that. It crits whenever it would mini-crit (jarate, soldiers buff banner, etc). Problem: it ALSO randomly crits. Sniper is guaranteed to have crit melee swings flying around, all capable of 1HKOing anything short of a soldier and heavy minus overheal, with those last 2 classes only requiring an additional hit in most cases. Combine this with Jarate (which itself may be debatable), and you essentially have an axetinguisher that gets no damage penalties and can still randomly crit.

Also, the downside (increased fire vulnerability) is completely worthless: you die pretty quickly to pyros anyway.

Thoughts?

Ignore. They removed random crits from the Bushwacka.

A friendly discussion about the Ubersaw being Overpowered or not:

It was me that put the now deleted entry of the Ubersaw on the list. Isn't 25% of uber every hit at the cost of lower attack speed a little much of a direct upgrade?

No. A direct upgrade is a weapon that offers only upsides with NO downsides whatsoever. The decreased attack speed is a downside, completely disqualifying the Ubersaw from being an upgrade with no room for argument. The Solemn View and Third Degree are examples of direct upgrades.

Besides, this weapon is high-risk vs reward. Getting that 25% uber on hit requires you to engage an enemy in melee, get enough hits, and escape back to your patients without dying. You risk losing ALL of your built-up uber if the enemy can kill you. Also remember you are restricted to melee to get that uber, while the enemy has free reign to use whatever they want, putting you are a huge disadvantage.

Honestly, the only thing that makes this weapon even practical is the insane "random" crit change melee weapons in general get.

Wouldn't the Boots be considered overpowered since the demoman uses the sticky launcher all the time anyway?

Not really. The grenade launcher is still a powerful weapon, especially for quick damage, air shotting, and long range bombardment (the sticky requires charging for that, which leaves you vulnerable). You are essentially trading a means of damage with an extra 25hp, which can be canceled out depending on your choice of melee. The Sniper's Danger Shield hasn't made it onto this page yet, so I don't see the Boots doing so either.

While I use the sticky launcher most of the time, the grenade launcher still comes in handy.

We've got an edit war going on about the Pholostigonater's status. Can we please agree on something?

My argument is that the Phlogistinator is controversial enough to merit a place in the list. There are other weapons on that list that aren't as controversial or potentially gamebreaking (Machina, Equalizer, Cow Mangler), and they haven't been contested; previous game breakers are still listed as well. There's a significant number of other people who believe that the weapon is broken as well, and they list their own reasons (eXtine did a pretty great evaluation about why it's gamebreaking a couple days back, link here). I'm not even the one who put the Phlogistinator on the list, but I don't believe that it should be removed based on the opinions of a single person. Arguing and counter-arguing would just create natter on the page as well.

I propose a vote to see whether it stays or goes, but my opinion is that it's pretty clear-cut that it should stay.

The Phlogistinator has a broken skill-curve, being a crutch weapon. To players who can't airblast or utilize the other flamethrowers to full potential, it's a straight upgrade, and generally overpowered when used in a low-skill environment. However, lack of airblast is rather crippling against players at a higher

I have to admit that the mechanics behind the weapon are rather silly, which is likely where much of the controversy stems from, and could likely do with a rework in the future. However, there are valid arguments that have been presented by people who believe that the Phlogistinator is not a game breaker. My stance on this is that we should let the general community come to a conclusion about the weapon, since it's state of balance is currently being discussed. If no such conclusion is reached, then I have no issues with deciding the matter with a vote.

My main beef with the Phlogistinator was the insane damage resistance and healing during the taunt and the powerful crit-stream the followed, allowing a pyro to completely turn the table and win a battle they should have lost otherwise. Also, it was really easy to fill up the Mmmph meter with flares/det/scorch.

Luckily, it has been fixed.

It's been nerfed, does it still count as a game breaker?

If it was at some point a Game-Breaker, then yes.

It still has the pistol-level firing rate, and the increased metal consumption when destroying projectiles means little if you are camping a dispenser. Less viable on offense, but still very powerful on defense.

Let's stop re-adding the Axtinguisher to the page. If it really were a game breaker, it would have been patched long ago; in the five years it's been in the game, it has not had its balanced changed.

I think it goes without saying that, before you decide to add a weapon to this page, make sure that it's something that the majority of people feel is at least controversial, not something that you alone think is broken because you had an experience where someone owned you with it and you couldn't figure out how to counter it, or you used it against some noobs who had no idea how to counter it.

Don't know if it's just me, but this page gives off an incredibly whiny tone. I'm all for showing how broken it can be, but if you can't set a neutral tone, let somebody else who can do it for you.
