I'm not sure if it would go under Idiot Ball or Idiot Plot, but nobody seems to have mentioned yet that the entire movie would have ended ten minutes in if the Russian mobster had actually done as he was told and not mentioned the assassination to his underling that gets kidnapped and tortured for information.
