Okay, I object to the Broad Strokes entry. It just plain isn't so. The entire origin of the Hulk, the entire characterization of Ross and his relationship to Banner, and the total absence of even the slightest hint of David Banner are *not* "minor details."

So, is anyone going to actually make a counter argument, or are they just going to try and edit it back in? I'm open to someone trying to explain how TIH did not change vast and important parts of the plot of Hulk 2003.

, but I might as well explain it here. The purpose of Broad Strokes in this case is not that the '03 movie is rock solid Canon in the '08 movie, but that the '08 movie used elements of the '03 movie to tell its story. The fact it doesn't show the Hulk's origin directly is the strongest evidence of that. It may have been a Continuity Reboot but the implication is "If you saw the '03 movie, you kind of know how we got to where we are now."
We can also look at it as well just from an audience perspective, you can watch the '03 movie and the '08 movie back to back and they actually work okay together because they are detailing different time periods of the Hulk's story. The audience is smart, they caught on to the changes made to the details of the '03 story. But regardless of the details being MAJOR, MINOR or "vast and important parts" there were elements that were shared. That is what the trope is about.
I waited some time hoping you would respond, but since you haven't I put it back in. I think it might have been the way the example was worded that you didn't like, so I changed to something that would likely be less confrontational. Again it's not saying that the '03 movie is canon to the '08 movie regardless of what people think. Canon Discontinuity is almost mandatory for the trope and most of the examples are almost identical to this one.

So does anyone else see the Actor Allusion with Edward Norton and his inner violent self? Granted, the Hulk and Tyler Durden are worlds apart, but I can't NOT see it.
