I tried to make it as ambigious as I could, maybe it should be revised as more of a shout-out on my end. Though the text I did put as of now does put a clear line between the two.
The Fight Continues!Although Generation does use Pacific's Enterprise as a reference base, it doesn't feel much as a Shout-out. For example, on Enterprise's "I Have Many Names" trope on her character entry, "Yvonne Swanson" specifically applies only to Generation, not Pacific. The "Crossover" should be removed as well, because there's no actual collaboration between Morgane and sasahara17. The same should apply to O'Bannon's entry as well.
What I'm trying to say is keep Pacific only details that Morgane and her team puts out - including Generation info would simply confuse visitors. The same should apply on Generation's page. There is a bit of overlap, but it's more as reference points than actual crossover. Morgane and sasahara17 do acknowledge the existence of each others' works, but said works are wholly separate entities.
Edited by eagle108Do you mind if I removed the Generation references? Like I said, Pacific is its own work, Generation is its own work, and neither of the creators have indicated any sort of collaboration to indicate any sort of crossovering.
Fine, just don't remove the one in the Shout Out section. Looks like I went overboard when I wrote those.
The Fight Continues!Problem is, though, another troper told me that if a character from another work (like Enterprise or O'Bannon) makes a prominent appearance in another work, it's not a cameo, it's a crossover. This should be a topic of debate. I don't want to start edit wars over trivial matters. I had this problem back when I edited for the Medal of Honor wiki.
The Fight Continues! As Shoutouts, it makes a bit more sense. For Crossover, it just doesn't match the TVT's definition of Crossover, especially with the Fanworks examples. Although, maybe asking Morgane and sasahara to clarify would be a better idea? (Well, when sasahara gets back, from the looks of it on SB.) I've always saw a "crossover" where two or more properties operate in one universe with specific rules that follow that said work - Project × Zone as one example and the Kingdom Hearts franchise as another. In Project X Zone, you have characters from various game franchises interacting in a shared universe with references made to each others' respective properties, like Chris Redfield from Resident Evil recognizing Chun-Li of Street Fighter. Alternatively, a "crossover" where characters from one property "cross over" to another property through some means.
The main sticking point why I don't think Crossover should be used is mainly because of the Abyssals. sasahara's Abyssals clearly follow the game and anime's styling, while Morgane's Abyssals appear more kaiju.
Now that I think about it, maybe put the Generation references under the Trivia page? That way, newcomers to Pacific are less likely to get confused, on the off chance they ask Morgane over at the Himeuta thread and sasahara at SB.
Edited by eagle108That compromise is probably the way to go. Since well, there are a number of tropers who could probably debate about this issue as well.
The Fight Continues! You do it. If there's any oversights, I'll fix it.
The Fight Continues!Found what I could, moved them to the Trivia page. Think the same should apply over at Generation and their respective entries moved to its own Trivia page?
Edited by eagle108Sooo... Should we remove any/all Generation references from here?
Edited by eagle108And also wait for the Generation committee's word over at Gen's trope page as well?
Well, considering it's not directly an AU, I say delete it, but try leaving a "Follow the Leader" trope in it's stead. There's one too many fics out there based on Pacific.
The Fight Continues!
Shouldn't we refrain from mentioning The Greatest Generation since they're two completely different works? And vice versa on Generation's page?
